And here keeg was all worried he was going to have to take out that freighter himself. Still it was nice to get in a nice scuffle, and he was able to get though without a scratch.
"Hummer, do a sensor check for life signs, hopfully they can still use the life pods, and see if we can get a transmission through to that freighter, Laser com, tight beam, or even Mon Calamari Blink code"
"Keeg to Flight, Fiona maintain a Torpedo lock on that freighter, and everyone keep your distance, if that thing tries to fire blow it up. Dasha, how bad is your Damage? are you going to be okay? And everyone, great job on that engagement."

You find a lifeform is working it's way back from the freighter cockpit to the belly of the vessel where the life pods would be. If you wait and watch a life pod will eject and begin thrusting toward the Gas Giant.
Dasha is able to repair 3 hull damage, or as her R2 put in she was able to repair 3 hull damage.

OOC i need more information. How much longer before the other X-wings join us, and how long would it take to get to the Gas Giant? I am thinking of following the life pod at maximum sensor range and find out where it is, maybe even finding the source of the Graviton emissions that are mucking things up. Not to mention I cannot believe I can communicate with the other X-wings and not get any kind of transmission to the Freighter, or even the life pod. Granted they probably at this point DON'T want to communicate, but i at least like to know that messages are getting through

You have 2 hours before they arrive with the ore transports, X-Wings, and whoever Kaiya is sending.
The Gas Giant would be a 2 hour one way trip for the life pod. You could do it in 1 hour because you have a greater acceleration. If fact an X-Wing can outrun anything but a TIE interceptor. So if you follow the life pod it would be 3 hours round trip. It will take 2 hours for the ore transports to get to Kotal II so at your acceleration you could catch up with them.
You can communicate with the freighter, they where one of the freighters Sarne's men took from Kal'Shebbol. The imperials where using it as a HQ for the TIE fighters guarding the jump point. SO they didn't respond to your communication because they are Imperials in the Kryat Fang. Remember to get his men off planet Sarne stole every ship that could fly except for the Muvon because it looked too old to fly and the crazy Verpine's ship because it looked like junk. You could communicate with the life pod. Probably even interrogate him to get some information with a threat of blasting his pod.
You could of course destroy the life pod at any time.
Right now the Gas Giant is disrupting your ability to send a long range communication. You could try to send a comm to Kolatill or to Ciro on the mining station but they probably not get them.
Finding the Assault Carrier Bad Omen would help your teams plans. If it is at Kotal II your team is going to make have a hard time dealing with it without the FarStar. You would need to break them out an run hoping he does not send all of his TIEs after you. If Bad Omen is at the Gas Giant it would have a 4 hour minimum to get to the Kotal II or 2 hours to get to the jump point to try and stop your group. So knowing which it is would help.
You should leave a couple of fighters to guard the jump point.

As keeg calms down and watches the Lifepod drift blast away and maneuver he starts thinking about his mission. He needs to secure the jump point but that Graviton generator is part of the problem. His analytical mind again run through all the permutation and possibilities. he brings up the Kotali system on his astrogation plotter and in his head calculates vectors and velocities. and makes up his mind.
"Hummer, plot a course parallel to the one the lifepod is taking we are going to find out where he is going. Yes I know it might be a trap, but this is our Job"
"KEeg to flight, I am going to find out the source of Graviton emissions, Don't tangle with anything you cannot handle. It is most important to let Commander Ciro know where I am at, and that i will meet up with the Transports and the rest of the flight. Gabby your with me. Dasha, Dwyer, hold the fort"
"Gabby I and sending you the course that is plotted, we got two hours til the rest get here, and it is going to take us that long round trip. I don't want to miss out on the party but we need to find out what is going on."
With that final transmission Keeg's X-wing closes it's S-foils, adjusts it's course and heads out at Maximum cruise. Keeg makes a pass at the life pod and with a big cheesy grin gives a rude gesture to the lifepod.

You first see an imperial officer's surprised face. You next see a pair of sweaty butt cheeks that leave a imprint on the portal.
Lifepods only have a short burst of power at the begining and then a short deceleration boost at the end. They lack repulsorlifts or any maneuverability beyond a few small jets. This makes most of the 2 hours time spent drifting in space behind the lifepod.
Please roll 3 computer rolls to scan the area (Hummer may assist) I will roll for Gabby. One at 2D, One at 3D, One at 4D so I know how far out you find things. As you close in the interference to hyperspace is greater and greater. You realize if someone could generate Gravatons like this with a vessel they could just pull ships right out of hyperspace.

Keeg is quite surprised to see the posterior of the Imp. he must have been quite limber and he hated to think the Imperial had already removed his trousers to do that so quickly. Keeg lets out an exasperated breath and utters his favorite swear word "Mammals"
Keeg settles in and eats an mealy ration bar enroute to the Gas Giant, being so long in the cockpit he thinks he is starting to chaf in a certain area, and cannot wait to get to a proper refresher and relax in a good... warm.. bed
(we are going ahead of the lifepod, not waiting for it)
Computers (sensors roll) with Hummer assisting = 3G1B 2D = 5 SUCCESS! (i did not even know that was possible!) 3D= Failure, 1 threat 4D= 1 success 2 threat

OOC Luck you succeeded at the 4D one or they would have found you first. Travelling ahead of the lifepod you accelerate and are 1/2 hour in when you detect a ship at extreme range. The Bad Omen is orbiting the Gas Giant. You also note passing from the sensor shadow of a large asteroid is an Imperial Shuttle. It must have detected you because it has spun 180 and engaged full ion engines and is racing away (which at it's speed of 3 is pretty funny). Gabby engages the communications jammers (hyper transceivers don't work but normal comms do) and falls in behind you ship. You know shuttles have turrets to the rear and are reasonably tough.

Hours of boredom followed by moments of sheer terror. As Keeg travels with Gabby near him he is left to his thoughts, and he does not like it. He starts second guessing himself on the previous engagement. He knew he shot first, but with his experience, the moment he see's a TIE fighter he thinks "enemy" and that allowing them to shoot first could mean death. No to mention the Enemy Pilots that are left drifting in space all alone with limited power and Oxygen. It could easily be him, and only the fact he knows the Transports are en-route give him a little security knowing he would not be left to die in space.... he hopes.
His Melancholy mood is interrupted by a bleat from his astromech droid detecting an asteroid. "An asteroid? that would be a good place to hide." it starts looking at the Sensor data a little closer "Looks like we're detecting a slight elevation in heat then would be normal. Going to focus on that.... oh.. look what we have here! Gabby! heads up I got a contact trying to run away from the Asteroid. Start jamming and make sure he cannot warn anyone. TALLY HO!"
Mechanics: Opening S-foils and making a 45 degree turn to the port at speed 3.
No idea the range, nor if I have a clear shot. Not firing anywaz, but if i can I am aiming. might have to do an "s-turn" to get clear of the asteroid.

Are you pursuing an intercept course on the Imperial Shuttle? Being a none combat vessel it has a transponder code that registers it as an Imperial Shuttle INV Omen IV. Then of course the transponder was jammed along with comms by Gabby. Before it enters the asteroid shadow again you do see shield and weapons power up. Your Lasers have a range of 600m (6 small squares) per range band, your torpedoes have 1km per range band (1 big square).

Are targeting difficulties differant for torpedoes? Cause at 5D at max range for lasers makes it pointless to fire torpedoes to even attept to activate thier guidance.
Mainly I wanted to know if I had a clear shot first with lasers or torps
If the shuttle is going to use the asteroid as cover gabby and i should split and go to either side im an attept to flank it
But yes we at least going to pursue

The max range for lasers is 3km (in space you could easily argue for range 3.6km 6d,4.2km 7d,4.8km ,5.4km 9d,6.0km 10d your probably not going to hit them but you could try). The max for Torpedoes is 5km (again you could try 6km 6d, 7km 7d, 8km ,9km 9d,10km 10d but probably will not hit them) but with guided missiles you gain a second chance with 3 advantages to hit the target again at the end of the round. So guided has a big advantage that if you don't hit them the first time you gain a second chance. Torpedoes also do huge damage, I torpedo can take out most fighters and two will wreck a Yt-1300 or an Imperial Shuttle. Lasers are also a lot less damage. Your lasers do 6 vehicle (60 in wounds to a person) plus 1 Vehicle (10 wounds) per success. The Torpedo is a capital level weapon. It does 1 capital (100 in wounds to a person) plus 1 Capital (100 wounds) per success. Torpedoes are limited to 6 though without docking in a place with reloads so don't use one of them on a TIE fighter unless he really ticks you off.

You fire up the ion engines and maneuver around the asteroid. After 30 seconds of not knowing where the shuttle was exactly you arc around the rock and see the shuttle. He is going as fast as 3G engine can take him. I rolled initiative and you have it. You can move then fire and they will fire last. You would know all about the shuttle and realize that staying behind it is the key to survival.

Keeg intently looks at his MFD in his cockpit waiting to clear the asteroid and line up with the Shuttle. overhead he could see the pock-marked surface of the asteroid. come on, come on, closer.... closer. and then he see it in the distance. Knowing the heavier armor would greatly reduce his lasers he switches to Torpedoes and can start hearing the "Bip Bip" of the computer acquiring a lock. He lines up his craft for the attack. COME ON HURRY. He wants to get this fight over quickly.
Then the hears the tone and fires
"Torpedo AWAY!"
A torpedo streaks towards the SHuttle and hits the body causing it to list to port and give Gabby a better shot
Mechanics: Going speed 2 and making a 45 degree port turn..2D difficulty = 3 succcess, 2 advantage. (boosting attack and move) Firing torpedoes: 3 success and 1 advantage (giving a boost to gabby)

Proton torpedoes are the great equalizer between the X-wing and small craft and even Capital level cruisers. 2 Torpedoes strike leaving the shuttle shattered pieces.
Gabby turns off the jammer. "Maybe we are the Bad Omen."
You are at extreme range from the Gas Giant and the Assault Cruiser that orbits it. If you move closer you will almost certainly be detected (if the burst of energy from the Torps exploding is not noticed). (You failed the long range check earlier and will be detected if you move closer) Scanning the Giant you find it does have a focus point for the Gravaton disturbance that is directly below the Assault Carrier but 100km into the giant. It seems to be stable in it's place not rising or falling.
"So the Empire is causing the storms?" Gabby questions,"Meesaa think this is bad, very bad."
