Blackarrow looks the Keep up and down and comments "The sharp corners could make for easy climbing as long as we avoid the falling water. However, we'd have to be sure the risk of crossing the bridge is greater than the risk of scaling the mountain. Since this is the den of a lich, could its spells or traps have left some signature detectible through arcane or divine methods?"
He then pulls out his longbow and adds "If we're not sure, I could just fire an arrow at the gatehouse and see if anyone tries to kill us. Sometimes the best way to deal with a trap is springing it before it can hurt you."
OOC: If nobody else wants the Scale Mail, I'll use it since it boosts my AC by 4. However, since I'm an archer, chances are I won't be the one under attack most of the time, so if anybody who normally mixes it up in melee wants the armor, they should definitely have priority.

Malik asks "Is this where we should leave the wagon and travel on horseback the rest of the way? I have some rope if we want to tie someone to test the bridge for weight before crossing. Otherwise let us continue before the captives become lunch or undead slaves!"
OOC: I use heavy armour and a feat Dependant on having it so no use for Malik and Oloric has no armor proficiency. Up to the rest of you.
Edit: what time is it? Feel like we want to rest for everyone to level up. 3 is a huge boost or is it real early still?

OOC: I was contemplating taking it, but wanted to give others a chance. Hraken could use it during his grapple encounters.

[OOC: The armor's no use to me. Hraken seems to end up in melee more often; probably be a good boost for him. Would we level on a short rest? If so, we might want to take that breather before we head in. We're probably gonna want the wagon as close as we can get it to the keep (getting the hostages out, loot, etc.), and it doesn't look like there's a way to get it there without being in full sight, so we might as well bring it with us. We can decide whether we bring it over the bridge once we get up there.]

As the group catches up to Hraken to take in the sight of the keep, he notices for the first time the armor Malik is now toting with him.
OOC: actually, before I take it, I just noticed scale male has disadvantage for stealth checks. Is it full body armor? If so, could I just take the chest portion, and use 13 AC like the chain shirt without disadvantage, but gain the magical abilities? I don't want to min-max it, but I'm not sure I want to take disadvantage on stealth...
actually, I just noticed I hadn't applied the max 2 dex bonus for my chain shirt. I updated my character sheet to lower my AC, now I'm even wondering if I should switch to leather armor instead.... lol.

The path is broken up by bridges along the way. They built it up above the tree line which makes it pretty easy to see anyone approaching. The River pours from archways on both sides of the main gatehouse. The towers are 30 feet and the walls 25 feet. The keep is all connected with no open spaces within. Ivy and vines grow along the towers, upper walls, and terraces on the keep itself. They are green and growing with grapes and fruits (Rivenroar was known for it's wine ages ago). The water is flowing pure and blue. The evergreens fill the air with a fresh smell. Only the broken chains, rust on the gate, and a collapsed area of the second floor overrun with greenery show that this anything but a welcoming mountain keep. It is late afternoon and your ride after the Kruthics has been a long and restful one. Oloric and Paelius have time to study spellbooks. Fargrim is able to commune with his god. As you reach the brideg you pause in the low dip before the bridge to plan your assault.

Should explain more: The +2 scale of movement does not impede skill checks (stealth). Consider it light armor that is scale (wyvern scale) AC16 with no stealth or dex penalty. Daily you gain an extra move for one turn. It is magical and not metal. So please begin to fight over it now.

"Indeed you were lucky my friend; those are wyvern scales." Hraken had become somewhat an expert on dragons due to his hatred, and quest for knowledge that could defeat them. "That is quite a treasure," he continues "Wyvern scales are quite strong but light, and that armor would not hinder you as much as you might think." Hraken picks up the armor and cannot deny his desire to claim it as his own... he had long sought an armor that could withstand the greatest of hits, while still allowing him the freedom of movement he so coveted. "..however, if you do not wish to use it yourself, I would gladly take accept it."
OOC: Also, for my records, how much poison did Hraken get from those bugs?
Malik, just to be sure, Hraken does not appear to be acting in a threatening manor, merely envious.

"I cannot gain benefit from the armour. I am specially trained to use heavier style armours" remarks Malik.
OOC: Malik NEEDS heavy armour to gain his damage reduction from feat and has no dex bonus since I planned to use plate once its affordable. Trust me I would love that as you will have higher AC than I can get even if I used a shield so I'm envious but it doesn't fit this character at all unfortunately. To be honest it seems too powerful to allow all Dex with that AC
Also Oloric has no spellbook to study and gains no benefits from short rests. Only a long one. He doesn't need anything since he didn't level and is down one of his spell slots from the battle until a long rest. (Unless you are hand waving for us to have that back for now)
Malik also used a spell slot that requires a long rest unless he can pray for that back similar to Fargrim.
We likely need the long rest so Paelius and Fargrim gain their third level spells and slots so we should tread carefully this afternoon

[OOC: ...did you mean that it's "light armor" or just medium armor that doesn't weigh that much? Coz that might be tempting, if it's actually "light armor". But tactically, it's probably better for Hraken to get it, since he's hand-to-hand primarily.]
[So, on that picture, are those earth motes floating around the keep? Also, what's that bit off in the back right, that looks like a land-bridge or something, connecting to the keep wall?]

The earth motes are miles north. The land bridge is to the right and is covered in vines that have grown from the original grape terraces years ago. The vines have gone all Wrigley field across the towers and the land bridge.

OOC: nice drawing
Seeing the several bridges on the way to the keep Malik reiterates, "We should continue on. I can't imagine the bridge is meant to collapse and ruin the main path to the keep. At least not for our small group. Let us get closer to find a good spot for the wagon."
The avenger continues on the warhorse across the bridge taking a more front guard now that the path that must be taken is obvious.

As Malik urges them to continue, Hraken removes his restricting chain shirt and slips the light Wyvern scaled mail over his head. He bounds off quickly, testing it's mobility and stretching his arms and twisting his torso as he leaps. Regaining the freedom of movement he had lacked while wearing his inferior chain, a distorted smile crosses his face at thought of the advantage he now had. Satisfied, he turns to the Blackarrow.
"Perhaps you and I should climb around the side and conceal ourselves as we approach, and climb the wall to gain any advantage in the case of an ambush. Or we could simply march right up to the gate and face any challenge head on."

Looking at the terrain you see you could march down the raised path to the bridge. You could follow the river below the path. Fargrim and co. Could long rest in the wagon study and prepare. The river path is wooded and slower with more chance of critters. When you get close you could climb the bridge support, swim, go around and climb right or left, or any other idea you have. So I guess the question is high road or low road.

OOC: I think they wanted to get the Wagon closer. If that's the case then I suggest the high road. If we're ok leaving the wagon here i'd say we go the low road. Oloric is sneaky and could join a front scout group while Malik and the others lag a bit behind.
But if we want a closer wagon, which is likely, we should take the high road.
