Paelius clears his throught,"The Shadowfell is a plane of desolation and the undead. Shadar Kai are creatures that walk a line between life and unlife. Their ancestors lived in the Shadowfell and it warped the humans, elves, dwarves, halfling, and gnomes into pale withered reflections of the true races. From the size of the cloaked figure this shade is probably descended from halfling or gnome. I know the Hall of Great Valor had a crown that looked only half completed. Why a shade wants a half finished crown is unknown. Really the true question is who is he the Emissary for and what does his master want with a half built crown."

Blackarrow slightly loosens his grip on the gnome's throat as he offers a simple answer, "Perhaps his master has the other half? It may not be magical right now, but it must possess great power when reforged for this master to expend so many resources to have it. Does anyone know what the dragon crown was intended to do, other than look particularly shiny?"

Malik reads the note. "The emissary states he will visit next moon. Perhaps we should be here when he does?" Looking at the gnome, "can you coordinate contact with him and potentially a meeting? Your usefulness may allow you your freedom but without it I foresee a bleak out come for one such as you."
OOC: we should split loot. Malik won't need much if he keeps the weapon.
OOC2: xp? Long rest gets Oloric level 3 but we've had a few bog fights recently also.
OOC3: Malik is a beast with that sword against low AC!
Malik looks to Hraken, "Can you create a worthy sheath for me or know someone else who might in the area?"

The new returned Baron and Wizard Sertanian steps forward,"The crown was worn by the Dragonborn Warlord Azarr Kull. It carried five gemstones in the crown. When the avatar of Magnus came forth and defeated him, she gathered the gemstones to herself. She disappeared leaving only the Platinum weapon you now hold and and empty crown. The Dragonborn boasts before his death that he would bring back the Mother of Dragons who would rule the world again. idn't have much luck with that."
OOC- You all know the legends that the world was once ruled by the Dragons. That the evil dragons lead by Tiamat the Mother of Dragons brought the other races to this world to serve as slaves and warriors in her campaign to destroy the dragons of good. The good dragon Bahamuth gave call across all realms for assistance and those who would become the Lords of Mendelland came to his aid using power gained by the gods of other worlds. They defeated Tiamat ages ago and Bahamuth left the world to the hands of the Lords of Mendelland. He retreated with his dragon brethren to the chain of islands called the Mystic Island. The Lords are now immortals of this world watching from their floating cities above the mortal lands. Tiamat's followers were cursed to never leave the Dragon Islands. This cursed held until a moon of Klarn fell to earth 15 years ago breaking the curse as it destroyed thousands of lives. The Dragonborn have slowly left the Dragon islands the last 15 years and began to spread through out the realms. Most hold prejudice and mistrust of dragonkind with good reason. Tiamat was physically banished from the lands, but her influence is still felt. With the breaking of the curse her influence has been growing.

The gnome states,"After him leaving us to die and what transpired here I doubt he will be taking that meeting. The ritual that once led to the Shadowfell now leads to a level of hell filled with Ochre Jellies. So we don't have a way to get back unless we find another portal to connect to and I don't know of any."

Were there any other pieces of regalia or mystical doohickeys that this super-dragon warlord von Badguy had with him that this Emissary might be looking for? Aside from our pal's new sword, that is?" Izzy looks at the new Baron. "Also, I dunno what the protocols are for criminal extradition between your re-assumption of the baronial titles and the folks down in Brindol. Did you wanna handle sentencing and whatnot on our little pals here, or did you wanna hand that off to the folks downtown?"
OOC: we're gonna need to check over those rings and the headpiece and the armor, too, when we're doing the divvy-up of loot.

And there's Olly's "50 gp". What did the gnomes have on them? What else have we collected, so far?

OOC: Oloric has more but I need Stephen to say how much. I think it was 100 but there was also more coins he had picked up that no quantity given
Malik adds to the conversation and captain, "It seems you should also add how useful our masked friend has been. It seems only fair he be allowed free reign in Brindol again"

OOC: Oh, Izzy knows he's got more, he's just not bringing it up right now. He'll mention the social utility of even divvying of loot later, when they've got more time to themselves. It gets awkward having those conversations around the straights.

You can find a quiet place in the keep away from the others after you lock up the gnomes. It was 100gp I didn't know if his love for gold allowed Oloric to freely offer to share.

Oloric is willing to share. He loves gold so won't part with it easily but he won't try to steal really. Stephen there were additional coins you mentioned. It may only be a few from the spilled explosion bag?

OOC: So I think we got info and can actually go through the portal back to town? Not sure what the next steps will be then. We can look into trying to get to shadowfell to find the emissary or following Sinruth and the goblins or trying to find the crown, etc? Thoughts for everyone?
I'll go level Malik and Oloric up in the mean time.

OOC: do we want to crash here before we head back to town? Also, is the newly re-Baronated Captain gonna want to keep the gnomes here or drop them onto the council's plate, where they will almost certainly either escape and plot revenge, or con the council into electing them king? Do we think we can pry any more info out of the little twerps?

OOC: We may want to keep the gnomes around here a while. After all, when we get back, we've got enough evidence to get the current Lord Warden ousted for illicit use of government resources, corruption, and reckless endangerment of all of Brindol, so I have a feeling the prisons could get a bit dicey during that time. With any luck though, maybe we can get Kartenix to take the guy's place, which means we'll have a guy with a castle, major government clout, AND who owes us his life and that of his entire family. It's nice to have powerful allies if things start going south. Plus, he'll probably pay us a lot better for the job we did than Orenna ever would.
