It can't be whispered for instance. If it could then all spells can right? I don't see why spells couldn't be whispered, just like a conversation between two stealthy players can be whispered. Verbal says nothing about volume, it only requires that you speak them out loud; a whisper is still vocal. So yes, all spells can be whispered. My next level i'm taking Subtle spell so I can do spells without verbal. If we could whisper it would make the power somewhat useless anyways except in real silence spell. So was trying to say someone "can" hear you casting the same as Oloric is casting the spell. That's all. So if casting a spell you're making noise someone could hear. It's not something you can do stealthily unless all spells can be. If that is the thought process i'd want to know before taking subtle spell since it would not be useful. Page 204 of the PHB says ... If you are planning on taking Subtle Spell to be stealthy, I would rethink that since any spell can be stealthy as long as doesn't have a perceptible effect. Someone can hear a whisper if they are close enough, but anyone can whisper any spell and be stealthy with it (if the spell allows). Subtle spell would be more useful in some close-quarter instances or if we were underwater, or if you were gagged or had your mouth full. It really depends on how Stephen interprets it, but in my opinion Subtle Spells doesn't seem designed with stealth in mind. It doesn't seem like it's that great unless you expect to encounter a lot of situations that prevent normal spell-casting. It was clarified that it can't be whispered in 3e but this is a new edition so who knows. But if that was really the case then we would never be able to tell what spells were cast other than by seeing the effect since whispering would mean you probably can't hear the casting unless VERY close. Up to Stephen but if I can now cast sleep whispering and its not obvious BC of whispering then its a big deal and I will be doing something different when I get level 3! Agreed that I wasn't saying the target would know if the spell was cast on them just that spellcasting has always been obvious in the past so not able to be done and stay hidden.

The rage drakes are roaming the garden area. Hraken does perceive that they stay clear of the mushroom patches. The witch looks beaten and is trapped in a circle.
The goblins are screaming at Malik and the group in goblin. They are expressing doubts about their parentage and exploring their sexual habits in connection to goats.

"All right then, folks, let's get into it! Once we get out onto the wall, I'll drop down into the courtyard and head for the gnome at the gate, and you three head across the wall to those first two towers. Olly hits the snooze button on tower two while Blackarrow and Hraken chew up tower one, and we'll meet up at tower three. "
Izzy lifts open the trapdoor and looks down into the tower. Any surprises waiting for us?

We will move towards the towers and Oloric casts Sleep on the second tower (15 total HPS man I rolled poorly).
Malik will be charging at some point so just let us know timing of that versus the stealth types.

Blackarrow follows the pack and gets ready to fire. Once it's time to start the party, he'll down one goblin with a pair of shots.
Attack: 23. 6 damage (really!?) and Ex Success. Followup attack is 17, so that'll finish off one gobbie.

Oloric, Hraken, and Blackarrow sneak to the first tower as Izzy disappears below. In the first six heartbeats they travel quickly. Izzy climbs the ladder past the first level that appears empty and untouched to the first floor. He takes the only doorway down a hallway, finds a pressure plate to not touch, and end at a door that is broken and partially opened. Peering into the room he sees 7 old goblin females snoring. There are old beds set up barrack style along the walls but they have gathered the old blankets an such and are cured up in a circle in the center of the floor. Oloric casts sleep and the 2 goblins at the second tower roll into a ball and sleep. The first goblin in the first tower is stuck by two black arrows TM and fall. The second turns to the group just in time to see the claws of Hraken rip out his thought. The sneak group takes the first tower. From the tower you see that the bridges over the river are open to the first level. The rage drakes smell blood and prowl toward the towers. The goblins notice the lack of screaming insults from the 2 towers and turn to see the missing goblins. Blackarrow, Oloric, and Hraken duck below the battlements. A goblin barks an order and the goblins from the third tower begin to walk the narrow wall path to the second tower as the other towers watch with bows drawn. Seeing the goblins looking up and not at them Malik, Paelius, and Fargrim rush down the bridge to the gatehouse. In the light of torches held in gargoyle shaped sconces you see the Gnome has run away but left his tool kit. The group stands at the entrance looking in and see a statue of a noble knight also holds a burning torch. Paelius touches Malik's shoulder and points to the mouths of the gargoyles and the helmet of the knight. "A statue does not normally have that deep of holes in mouth and visor." Connan circles protectively around the houses and wagons left on the path. Blackarrow's mount dismisses his "aura of suck" he had cast earlier on his rider.

OOC: How do you want to play this? Is it initiative rounds now?
Oloric whispers to the group, "We will want to hit the goblins crossing to tower 2 before they can get to their comrades (wouldn't want them to be awakened!). Let's take out those two crossing and then head down one of the towers to meet with the rest of the group. I'm worried our comrades may find more than they bargained for. The close quarters will at least limit the archers now giving us some advantage. Someone lead and I will follow"
Malik, thinking that charging this place may not have been the best of ideas remarks back to Paelius, "No time to deal with questionable suits of armour. We need to handle those goblins and meet with our group or this entire endeavor may turn sour. We need the numbers in case they collaborate en masse. Let's move through the gate and take out a tower to our left. Let's also hope that suit of armour decides to stay a statue"

Izzy thinks to himself, -I dunno how comfortable I am with cutting a bunch of old ladies' throats in their sleep, really...even old goblin ladies.- and tiptoes past them to the doorway on the left. [Stealth total: 18]

I will keep track of movements and the rounds but i don't think we need formal order of initiative yet. I can stay narrative for now.
Izzy sneak past and to the first gatehouse. He sees light from the gate but the torched are not lit. As he walks forward he feels the stone give way a little too much. He hops back as a fluid streams across the floor from the torch holders gargoyle mouths and from the visor of the night that rotates toward him and sprays the liquid. Izzy smells easily that it is oil.

Malik steps forward and feels a soft stone and hears a click. The statue spins toward him and the visor sprays a liquid through the burning torch. It ignites a cone of fire rushing at Malik (save dex or int dc10) for half of 8hp damage If fail take all 8hp fire damage. Paelius and Fargrim have advantage to the save the gargoyles and torches have also sprayed fire.
Hearing the whoosh goblins in the fourth tower cheer and begin to climb down the ladder to inspect the bbq.

See the commotion the old woman in the arcane circle stands and pounds on the invisible field," Hey whoever is killing goblins get me out of here." The Rage drakes here the whoosh and are sniffing by the where the rooftop is over the gatehouse.

Malik rolls a 7 taking full damage. He points at Fargrim and Paelius, "Hurry, let's get away from this death trap. Let us pay back some goblins." He moves forward further towards tower 3 looking for someone to pay.

Killing open the door to the tower he sees a ladder going up the 20 feet to the top. Paelius and Fargrim follow entering the tower as gobins in the 4th tower (the other side of the gate) open their door and see the dwarf. Next round they will tip toe through the pressure plates toward your tower.
Goblin update tower one- dead tower two asleep tower three- moving to tower two tower four- on first level moving to tower three tower five- waiting with shortbows for someone to shoot. tower six- waiting to shoot Rage Drakes are jumping down to the bridge over the water. Witch is yelling for help.

Oloric fires two bolts of flame at the goblins moving to intercept them from making it to the second tower. He wants to stop them from making it all the way if possible.
(Attack: 22, 1 damage. Extra attack is a 9 miss)

Malik asks Paelius, "Can you take care of the goblins up in this tower with a spell? We can use the ground for defense once they are gone to meet up with the others."
He calls out in a clear voice for Izzy, Hraken, Oloric, and Blackarrow to hear that they are near the third tower.
OOC: Paelius and Fargrim may also be wounded so we might need a heal on someone if they also failed. Malik took the brunt of it on his end.
