OOC: The 2nd level map says the gate's open, and the gnome seems to not be able to fix the mechanism, so we at least don't have to worry about that. The good news is that BA's got 280ft of range on the guys with shortbows. Plus, after recovering the arrows he can, he's still got 35 to use, so he can fire without fear of reprisal during a good part of the approach we if try that. However, considering the cover they'll have, it probably won't help much (Remind me to take Sharpshooter next level, then he could fire at full range into 3/4 cover without penalty. Crazy, right?).
I'm all for trying to avoid charging the middle too, so if there's a path around, I'll root for it. If there's no land/mountain route, does anybody have any gear or spells that could make the river more passable?
Also, I wonder how much powder Fargrim has with the blunderbuss? Maybe we could create a few makeshift explosives, mount them to a crossbow bolt/arrow/other projectile, fire them at the goblins, and have Oloric's fire bolts light them up and blast the towers? It definitely wouldn't be Plan A, but it'd be a good way to take down some goblins fast if we get into trouble and end up in Plan D or worse.

Quick Answers
You gather 2 score arrows and 3 shortbows. They have a half dozen javelins and one spear left because a few goblins hit the water below when they feel off the spiders. You could find some goblin cleavers (rough daggers). The shaman has a wooden staff and you find a whistle around her neck. The goblins are all female and all red hand tribes.
The gates looks rusted open. The chains on the drawbridge are broken.
The goblins can not hide and fire shortbows. They are too short to stand on the ground so they gain partial cover from the battlements.
The right side would require sliding/climbing down from the raised path to the forest floor below. Moving 400 yards through the forest. Climbing a moderate cliff with lots of helpful vines and coming up at the tower to the right the vines are growing down from. It would be about a 2 to 3 minute operation if you are hustling. You could not bring horses or wagons.
Fargrim has 18 shots left.

[OOC tactical: 2-3 minutes? That's not bad. Say Izzy, Hraken and Blackarrow drop down the side and come at these goons from behind, and then the rest of us come ahead when they see us hit them?]

Oloric is good at stealth also. Need another level or two and he will have other useful spells but not yet. He will level after we rest.
We could send the wagon in without horses and Malik and Fargrim can hide in it to create a distraction using its special powers while the others sneak around and try to climb up?
If we move fast his shield of faith will still be up giving him AC bonus.
Malik can handle a few goblins but if you guys get held up he may be hurting he he. As long as he doesn't get stuck in the open if bridge is down he can take a bunch down

You do know they can not raise the bridge and from the look of it they can not lower the portcullis either. The undead are not known for maintaining equipment. You do see a Gnome with a tool kit trying to get something working.
So to be sure
Izzy, Blackarrow, Oloric, and Hraken go sneaky to climb the rock formation and vines to the right.
Malik, Fargrim, and Paelius move the wagon forward and try to keep the goblin's attention while staying out of harms way. Then when the sneaky squad attacks they rush the gate.

That seems a good enough plan for me. Let us know rolls, etc you need.

The Distraction team can roll to taunt or Intimidate the goblins to keep them focused on you. Taunt would be a Blather (deception) roll DC8. Intimidate would be DC8. Either would give the sneak group advantage to not be noticed. If the Distraction group want to move within range they can take attacks.
The sneak group need to make an Athletic or acrobatic to slide downhill without rolling princess bride style. (DC5). Then a stealth roll to not be noticed. The trees make it pretty easy (DC5). The Athletics to see how fast you move to the cliff. Finally a Athletics to climb the vines up the cliff quickly (DC8) and a stealth (DC10) to not be noticed climbing the vines. Does the sneak team want to stay together or have guys who move faster get their first and the rest catch up?

OOC: I assume we would all go together.
(Intimidate-strength: 8)
Slide (Athletics: 11) (Stealth: 16)
Climb: (Athletics: 14) (Stealth: 10)
-barely made some of of those.
edit: just realized I didn't need to intimidate since I am sneaking. >facepalm<

Fargrim begins shouting insulting remarks about the legendary cowardice of the Red Hand tribe in badly accented Goblin as he pushes the wagon forward. He makes particular note of how the males died weeping and begging for mercy and offering to sell their women-folk into slavery in exchange for their lives. [Deception roll: 11]
[Stealth team should probably stick together.]
Izzy slides down the side of the embankment all graceful/ninja-style, and slides through the trees like a shadow. [Acrobatics roll(with adv. from ring): 23, Stealth roll (with adv. from taunting): 26, Athletics roll: 16, Athletics roll (with adv. from ring): 21, Stealth roll(with adv. from taunting): 17]

If you all drop off the trail you need to find a place for horses and wagon and the dc to be found will raise for the sneaking. If you stay and make a ruckus they may not notice the guys sneaking away.

Acrobatics: 17 Stealth: 18 Athletics: 16 Athletics: 21 Stealth: 23
OOC: Wow, that string of rolls just restored the universal balance lost after those nasty combat rolls earlier. I'm officially saying our horses were cursed. It's the only explanation.

The taunts of the group are returned by the goblin women on the walls. Paelius adds a firing of rays of frost. They are more of a show than having any chance of reaching the goblins, but they do distract. The 4 sneaks cover the distance easily and the vines are quickly climbed. The roof of the eastern tower is uninhabited. The tower is 10 feet higher than the gate towers and 20 feet higher than the garden on the 2nd level of the keep. Looking out you see a open area in the center of the keep. In this area you can see balconies and many spiderwebs cross crossing the area. The overgrown garden area is filled with architectural debris and half broken walls. Amid the ruins are mosses and many types of mushrooms. Most have brown or grey caps. In the middle is a glowing magic circle with an old woman sitting cross-legged in the middle. Around the garden area prowl 2 Rage Drakes.

[Question about the gate towers and the walls between them, and about our position. Are we going to have to go down into the courtyard area to get to the towers that the goblins are in, or is it possible to work our way along the tops of the walls between the towers? Also, does the old woman seem to be aware that the goblins are engaged in a confrontation, or does she seem to be doing her own thing?]
