The rest of the crew do what they can to prepare the ship for microjump. Lowfrynn does an triumphant job re-balancing the hyperdrive core and it is ready in one hour instead of four. The X-Wings are already gone and the Aegis and Muvon launch as the FarStar readies for jump. It will be a helpless feeling loading relief supplies and then knowing it will be 4 days later when you arrive with help. That is the reality of the situation and Captain Ciro just hopes the waves of help he is sending can stop the maddness that is being transmitted to all other planets in the sector by the Imperial Assault Carrier. Their first mission is a large stage for the FarStar and the plan is a gamble even Gammer would shudder to make.

The FarStar orbits Kal'Shebbol never expecting to be back so soon. Shuttles from the surface have met them in orbit to save the time of reentry and liftoff. It is still a slow 2 hours before the supplies cram the flight deck and await movement into the supply holds. Instead of X-Wings the outer airlocks have Defenders prepared. Padwick keeps the flight deck moving and Will Sydar takes command of the depleted flight group.
Finally the jump is logged and prepared the ship makes the move into hyperspace.
"If we are correct we will cut a few hours the jump and arrive in 84 hours," Thyte states.
"You cut 12 hours from the jump. Excellent work Thyte." Ciro begins to rework tactics,"The Bad Omen will expect us for at least 96 hours. This gives us an edge."

Krudar was inspecting the turbo lasers, running diagnostics and maintenance checks. He had ran through every standard operating procedure for battle drills and even integrated the droids and the bridge. Noted the discrepancies for power output fluctuations, modified targeting interface, emergency procedures, workstation (lack) of cleanliness, abundance of rigged cables and the list went on. His years of gunnery he had seen worse. It was workable and ready for combat, but could be improved in so many ways. He mad a mental note of the lack of size this craft had compared to the Neb-B he was on. The cannons looked like they would hit just as hard, he liked that. He had a report due to the bridge on status of the cannons since he was the new join to the crew. He suspected the loud mouthed Sergeant was just pawning work off on him. It did not matter as he would have done a detailed inspection anyhow as the guns were his life and vengeance he could control. As his hours of work was transmitted to the bridge he heard the familiar chirps of the R3 units warning him of new information on the computer terminal. Krudar looked at the display in the dark confines of the gunnery deck, a jump?
He had just gotten aboard with Boom and he had taken off in a hurry for a "big fire" mission. He took all the information in quickly, LT Thyte had commented on his astrogation experience and he wanted to "bounce" some calculations. He knew it was a hollow statement as he had no intent of ever asking. Krudar knew the human was just paying patronage as he was a Duros and masters of space. On the other hand he was an officer and seemed moody, never trust them his old chief used to say. (OCC Krudar has a funny looking wreath thing on astro skill and not sure how we roll or if I can?) Krudar crunched the numbers with the help of the computer and R series droids, this was not his first capital ship and he never trusts "higher" until they prove they are capable. After the last little hop they took he felt warranted. (Gm roll if needed)

Krudar ooc the wreath is is an automatic advantage that is added to the roll.
The difficulty for the astrogation check is 3d and 1 setback. It is on a minor hyperdrive route but you astrogation charts are old with a lot of approximation and guesswork.
The little human private (Tanner Carzyn) is working the weapons checks and looks over briefly as he see you are pulling up astrogation charts. He is a good kid if he would just take the music pods out of his ears once in a while. He has even started head bobbing and air instrument playing at times. Humans!
At least he doesn't have to hear the Sergeant anymore after delegating him to the Ventral weapons deck. Krudar knows he needs to make final assignments for the gunners other than Sergeant Fasalk.
Speaking of the slob he hears the pounding boots and loud call of the Sergeant who calls himself "Pot-Shot". His voice booms causing the usual tightness in you back and neck,"Hey, Krud my man do you have the final assignments? I need to get my crew in shape and I can't do that if I don't have a gunnery crew." He then turns to Private Carzyn, "How about those Rhyloth Rancors? Are they gonna take it all Tanner."
Tanner takes out and earbud and locks up at attention,"Sergeant I am performing my duties and am not at the liberty to discuss grav-ball sergeant." He then returns to work.
OOC: You have the following positions Dorsal Main Gunner Krudar Dorsal Quad laser 1 Dorsal Quad laser 2 Dorsal Quad laser 3 Dorsal Quad laser 4 (doesn't have enough power cells does not function) Dorsal Weapons Operations- Private Carzyn
Ventral Main Gunner Pot-Shot Ventral Quad laser 1 Ventral Quad laser 2 Ventral Quad laser 3 Ventral Quad laser 4 (doesn't have enough power cells does not function) Ventral Weapons Operation- Private Loner
The bridge runs the proton torpedo bays.
Your possible crew members are Kiirriss (Transdoshan gunner) he is not dorsal material in your opinion Tyria Sarkin (Mandalorian gunner) she almost beat you in the gunner tournament. Tydin Tyte (Human Cyborg gunner) quiet and efficient Ensign Gadow (Human Gunner) so much less than his family name. Ensign Gintor (Human Gunner) barely qualifies as a gunner. Private Kintor (Hybrid Gunner) natural talent
Gintor and Kintor are currently on planet and will not be on ship when you enter real space after the jump.

The Sergeant speaks first,"I'll take the rookie Ensign Gintor off your hands. She needs a little seasoning and I could be just the man to give it to her." Krudar sees his leer and realizes he is not thinking of her abilities as a gunner.

Krudar had the list ready to go in his data pad. He pulled it up once more to make sure he had everything covered.
Dorsal was a prime spot for ship to ship action, seemed often the bridge flew in what they considered "down" when engaging other ships. Even view ports were set up more to look up or straight ahead than down. On the Tw'liks other tail was the fact that Ventral would see the majority of the action in ground support, the units on the ground always enjoyed accurate support fire. Krudar did not know if the ship would be hitting the upper reaches or lower on a planet to provide support. Knowing that the new tracking system would take practice and discipline to use and there was little room for error in ship to ship fights he knew the list he had was as good as it was going to get. "Here is a copy Sgt, the bridge also has a copy." No way the Sgt would get credit for his work, he heard there was a credit bonus for performance. Light or Dark (true or false) he had to take action for the credits.
Dorsal; Krudar Main, and Carzyn Ops, DQuad one: Tyria, she was very good and wanted her close by if things got rough, besides the Sgt would loose his teeth if he tried to pick up on her one more time. DQuad two: Tydin, maybe this cyborg would keep LT Thyte happy with Dorsal not to mention he could hold his own. DQuad three: Loder, he showed promise and with his skills base would only make Dorsal better. The clones had talked to him and that is all the reason he needed from those seasoned warriors.
Ventral: Sgt main, and Loner Ops, VQuad one: Ensign Gadow VQuad two: Ensign Gintor, may the force save us. VQuad three: Kiirriss, that was about as far away as Krudar could place him. With luck when he lost his temper he would beat a droid, if he needed blood well Gintor was closer and the medical bay was one of the nicest places on the ship.
Next order looking at who could man the number fours when they secured more power cells. The crew seemed to be a resourceful bunch with some measure of skill displayed by the Engineering by making this Corvette punch well above its weight class. He was impressed and relived at the high grade extra plating and marveled at this class having a functioning hanger that held more than a flight of TIE's. He would talk with the rest of Dorsal to see if they knew of prospect to man the Fours. He also would break the news to them more drills would follow. They had not practiced boarding actions, loss of pressure, coordination of fire with assigned gunners, and some real advise on how to do various destroying and disabling shots based on type of craft, oh and }shudder{ the life boat drill. Krudar was in charge now of Dorsal and not just a skilled gunner with a gun to perfect. Through his Duros heritage knew he would have to be vocal to lead this crew, strong silent professional only went so far on new crews. He did not relish the prospect but knew it was his duty in order to defeat the imps, oh how he hated speaking basic to teach basic skills, it was the irony in it really.

"Yes Sgt." "I did hear that Sgt Scoryn has broke a guys nose in Engineering that said something vulgar to Ensign Gintor." "Take it for what it is worth." "She needs training really, I can help her when we train as an unit." "Rather you not cross the boys in Security, we have enough to do here." "Or as my old chief used to say Don't defecate where you gain nourishment, if my translation is correct?"
( OCC You can roll a coercion maybe? I downloaded the roller but not sure: I have 3 green diamonds, hit roll have reads in order A over an A, then next two have single S on them. Just reading the picture straight across if that helps)

"Gadow, Jintor, and Kirrisss I can live with that." He doesn't seem to notice the threat intended in your message,"That engineer didn't have the Edly charm. Did I ever tell you about my time on Hoth. Some kid was missing out in the cold. The princess was worried and needed comforting, if you know what I mean. I slid right up and said ..." Edly continues on and you just shut him out wishing you had Tanner's earbuds.

Krudar looked at Tyria, Carzyn and Tydin along with the mass of droids. "Sith me!" They had a gunners deck that would even get the approval of the former imps. Everything was to Duros standard of efficiency and cleaniness. The four had gone over every gun, conduit, power cell, and the highlight was finding a gunners recognition card that showed the banking cartel ships from the clone wars. How old was this ship? Tydin did not speak much, Tyria was slow at first they slowly opened up with relief of knowing their assignments. Carzyn did not have much to offer but Krudar knew he was vital and put the carrot in front of him about needing a man for gun four. He needed this space cadet to learn and trust him, he broached the aspect of how to efficiently take down ships. He hoped the non-bluster facts would be a wake up call for the boy and help the Dorsal crew. He also knew Carzyn's test scores on gunnery and his skill on the CPU, gunnery ops was where he needed him right now.
They traded stories of tips of how to eliminate all manner of fighters and ships. None of the bravado of Pot-Shot, just ruthless efficiency. Tyria gave him pause when she described a few ways she had seen the Neb-B series taken down. Krudar had been on a nebbie and knew first hand she spoke the truth, he had seen it as well. Krudar thanked them all for being professional, asked them if they needed anything? (Occ anything here?) Checks complete he let his crew get some well needed rest, he assumed the watch. Krudar retired to his seat a few meters off the gunner deck floor. Dorsal, it was his, up to spec with some skilled gunners. He might have his luck changing after all. Have to give a visit to the mechs and the bridge to get some more insight to the new targeting matrix the ship ran and to see if they had anything he could improve the guns with. Keying his comm to wep ops, "Caryzn how about you come up with some idea how to improve the range on gun four? Like to see your work first hand." Krudar still had to dangle the carrot for the young guy. As he thought about it his mind wandered to Boom, they had been through a lot together. He hoped he was well he had lost too many friends already.

Tanner Carzyn admits surprise that Krudar chose him to be part of his unit. He works hard to prove his worth and at Krudar's nudging come forward with an idea,"The fourth point defense turbolaser being inoperative could give fighters a tactical advantage. They will know our defenses are "blind" in that firing arc. If I install some of the burnt out power cells and route power through them we could at least give the impression of being powered up and firing from that position. It would at least fool them for a little while."
Tydin states,"or could we use half good and half burnt out cells to have 2 half power cannons?"
Tanner responds immediately,"You will end up burning out the good cells. With power cells it is an all or nothing thing or two shots into the battle you could lose the new cells."
Tyria has been quiet as usual, your whole group with Lodor on a mission are very quiet, but finally speaks up,"We could use access to a little more data and communications. If you are not original new republic communication systems are closed to you and you can not access the computer system for anything but limited work related functions. I have been trapped away from the world for a long time and now I still feel trapped. The only thing I know about the universe is what I here from crewmen which tends to be Edly and I refuse to believe Pot-Shots version of current history. Those of us who are new recruits would like to not be shut out. We are either crewmen or not. The Captain either trusts us or he should not have recruited us."
Krudar also notes that every time he does contact the lower weapons bay he hears a variety of strange noises in the background. From the chattering of Loh'Khar little friends, to music, to construction sounds. Edly never sounds like he is in the quiet of the turbolaser battery.

Tanner your correct on the cells. Tydin help him set it up and while your at it discuss the finer points of gunnery with him. Tanner learn what you can on the real info we need on the guns, Tydin has some skill and between the two of you I am sure you will both come out wiser.
Tyria your telling me we have no access? Tanner is yours limited as well at your station? This is not good as Dorsal does not get its info from the galley rumor mill, seen nothing but bad come from that in the past.
Tanner speaks up, 'Boss, I have some skills on the CPU and I cant even get out I tried' 'I dread to think of the tunes I am missing out on.' 'I missed the Raging Rancors concert before we left and it should have been on the recent news download' "We got nothing, not even a ship common files of music, I was hoping to learn a few new beat paths from some of the off world stuff."
Krudar could see the anger smouldering beneath on Tyria, Tydin looked as if he had a question to ask and did not know how to phrase it. Tyria spoke, "What access do you have?" Krudar was surprised by this he did not try to access anything as his life was the guns. "Let me look, jawas breath it only will let me look at the ships gunnery and ops."
Krudar patched through to the bridge, "I need Ensign Lilith." The dreamy voice of Lilith clicks on. "Hello Dorsal, what can I help you with?" Krudar "Ensign, Dorsal needs you to lift the restrictions on our CPU's access, you are impeding our training and readiness. Seems to be a matter of full New Republic crew status my techs data is showing. I ripped his backside into bantha leather but the CPU access is the hang up. In addition to that ensure weapons operations station has department level increase of access, I have to give detailed reports and that is where we consolidate and push our data from. I am sure in the rush a few key strokes were missed. Can you give me projection on completion?"
Krudar knew that telling the ensign what, why and how to do something always sped up work when it involved the bridge. It would also confirm or deny what could be a bad situation. He knew Lilith did not seem to be a formal trained officer hoping she would data tap this and be done. He had watched her a few times, he did not want to admit he was attracted to Twi'lik females and had blown more than a few credits in spaceports. He listened for her reply not just to her that dreamy voice again but to get his crew well deserved rights.

No matter she says Lilith's voice is just the type that makes even the disciplined Krudar a little flustered,"The Captain would like a little face to face time before granting your request. Please meet him in his office at your earliest possible convenience."
Lilith doesn't turn off the comm before you hear Thryte's voice in the background."Ensign this is a military communication not a holocredit talk line. You appropriate tone and terminology."
Lilith's voice returns but is even more seductive in nature,"Meet with the Captain in his ready room ASAP."
The comm line is off.

Kudar looks at his crew. Anything else you need me to bring up to the Skipper? Tyria you are in charge until I get back. Tydin and Tanner I expect a report on your experiment when I return. (if there is no further input then he departs)
Kudar steps into the turbolift and moves to the ready room. "Captain, Corporal Kudar reporting to the commanding officer as ordered, sir." Kudar had his salute held steady awaiting the return or whatever his fate held for him.
