OOC: I'm all for heading into the mines.
Delrin heads to the house to regroup and, after nibbling a bit on his own rations (there's no way he's eating or drinking anything prepared by Nodwinn, too much can go wrong when a mage makes food) he asks Khalad "How much do you know about the Mines and the Vault Khalad? I'm assuming they're well defended and trapped, so the more we know about what's prepared, the better we can avoid it."

Nodwinn looks to Tleyar,"The money I would make from this would assure none of my children would ever need to do something like this or work will with people and Grimmance and the torturer you had to follow. He is one gnome I have always made sure to keep a good distance from." He looks to Rhal,"I'm sorry about your brothers of the chain. They fought hard and died well. Like I said before many of the gnomes had no clue this what we signed on for. Most like myself just want to go home."
Oloric approaches the gate and begins the ritual. Roll Arcane with advantage (DC10) to open the gate to Stonehome mines.
Khalad looks to the others,"Someone needs to stay behind to let the forces from Overlook know what has befallen our people."

Oloric stands before the gate and begins to use the arcane words of the gate key. The gate swirls and begins to open from the center outward. The first thing that hits you is the blast of heat from the cave beyond. The light hurts your eyes as you see a fire raging on the other side of the natural cavern. The orcs within are silhouettes in the brightness. They seem to be picking through piles of rocks and fresh dwarven bodies on the floors. Before the gate itself a gnome cowers in the shadow of a large female Orog. "Tusk say get dis open. You get dis open." The female Orog is armored in ring mail and holds a large great axe in one hand as she threatens the gnome with the dwarven leg in her other hand. Bits of dwarf and bloody spit sprays from her mouth as she speaks, "Finally you do some'in right bigtoe." "The name is Bigglestouth and I didn't do anything yet." The gnome sees you on the other side. "INVADERS!" he squeaks. The Orog doesn't seem to hear the Gnome squeak, "This not Overlooks. Dey is hoomans." Roll for Initiative. The Gnome and Orog see you but the other Orc Grunts, Orc Soldiers, and the Eye of Grummish do not see you yet. Your party will be passing through the gate. Consider it just one square (5') of movement. The fire is hot enough to damage characters who stand within 5' of it.

The Orog staggers as Oloric unleashes a firebolt from hell. The fire blasts into the Orog.

Tleyar begins chanting again. "Fire and flame, ash and embers." the elf intones. "Fulfil your contract, gather and burn!" As the casting finishes, fire flows from every torch and open flame and gathers into a large, 5-foot sphere right on top of the Illusionist. ((Cast Flaming Sphere, illusionist takes 9[2d6] fire damage or half on DC14 dex save)) (OOC: so who ended up taking the Ring of Protection? Does Tleyar have it or someone else?)

The fresh air rushes through the gate causing the fire in the room to rage higher. The room looks to be natural forge. One of the forges has broken open and coals and lava are pouring across the floor. Oloric extends his hands palms up and as the fire burst behind Hellena a ball of flame blasts across her face burning hair and cracking skin. Tleyar admires her new ring as she calls to the spirits of the flames. They swirl from the forges to Bigglestouth. The Illusionist dodges sideways and rolled along the wall pulling out his flaming robes. The Eye of Grummish calls out," Forget the flame, secure the gate." He begins a prayer extending his hands at Hellena,"Grummish heal your warrior so she may bring you glory." Orc Drudges drop rocks and bring forward stone axes as they close in one the gate. The form a ragged line between Hellena and the gate. Your view of the little gnome is lost behind the brutes. Init: Oloric 20, Tleyar 20, Eye of Grummish 19, Orc Grunts 18, Delrin 15, Rhal 14,Izzy 14, Fargrim 13, Bigglestouth 11, Orc Soldiers 9 (once they notice you), Malik 5, Hellena 4 Your party will be passing through the gate. "I'll make us a path forward." Delrin fires as quickly as he can, letting off three arrows to fell the drudges in the bottommost line, then two more to fell the first two in the row above. He then uses that temporary gap in their ranks to move through that area in order to get some breathing room and a clear shot at that meddlesome cleric next turn.
Attack: 29 (nat 20!) so that's 3 bonus attacks (all hits kill drudges). Extra attack: 28. Bonus 1: 14. Bonus 2: 14. Bonus 3: 15.
