Catching the gnome's protests, Delrin shoots a quick look to Izzy that says 'Trust me on this one'.
With a wicked grin on his face, Delrin says in an innocent voice "Well, then I've got an excellent idea! Izzy, let's toss this fellow into the fire. If he really is protected by gods and kings, they should have more than enough power to quench the flames before he's roasted, so we won't have to worry about the fire anymore, plus he gets to prove how mighty he is."
Delrin then begins to stride towards the gnome, cocking his head inquisitively to the gnome as he says "Unless, of course, you have another way to quickly put out the flames, or another way to help us? Think fast though, we don't have very much time." He begins to reach out his hands and...
Intimidation: 22. Let's hope this works! OOC: Do I have to roll a Deception check too, since immolating people to test their magical protection levels isn't exactly Delrin's MO? If so, that's a 19.

Izzy presses the point of his rapier a bit harder against the back of the gnome's neck. Not enough to do more than draw blood, but he's through the skin. "Well yes, we'd have to deal with you BEING dead, yeah, that'd be kind of the point, no? But dead's not what we want, right now. Now quit squirming, half-pint. Remember, for what I need from you, all you need to keep is one ear, one eye, and your tongue. The rest of that stuff hanging off of your meatsack; fingers, nose, limbs, all of that's just dead weight. So, how's about you answer some questions before we start divesting you of all of that excess meat?" [Intimidate total: 23]

The gnome slumps under them he begins to plead,"Wait I have stuff, I know stuff, please don't kill me I'm just an employee. I just wanna go home to my wives and 87 children."

Izzy smirks and says "Well, if you'd keep it in your pants, maybe you wouldn't have to take crap jobs to support all them rugrats, now would you? So, first off, we've run into a lot of you little weasels in the last few days. Did the Emissary get some kind of bulk rate on you twerps or something? How many more of you jerks are we gonna hafta wade through?" As he speaks, Izzy nudges Tleyar off the gnome's back, draws one of his daggers and starts peeling the gnome's clothes off. "Hands flat on the ground, chump, or you start losing fingers!" Izzy's trying to make sure our new informant doesn't have access to any components or hidden magic items; he's careful not to damage anything that looks expensive or potentially magic-item-ish, but everything else the gnome's wearing gets slit down the back and slid off to the side for further investigation. The first thing Izzy notes as he strips the protesting gnome is his cloak seems to shimmer and flow as he moves it. It is embroidered inside and out with arcane script. He finds a pouch of various coins. A wineskin that seems full,"It is a skin of bounty. If you set me free I can teach you proper words. Each day it can make an endless supply of your favorite liquid." Izzy pulls off his bandoleer of components and spellbook. He soon sits holding his hands before his gnomish wand of baby making and looking pitiful. "The Emissary's boss hired the whole guild. Brought us over to this cold disgusting mid-realm and now I'm gonna die in this pale imitation of the real world." You finally notice as he screams he has a ring stuck in a puffy cheek. Izzy extends his hand and the gnome spits it out. "It was my wedding ring. Honest." The ring grows from gnome to human size as it lands in Izzy hand, a sure sign of magic.

"Second question: who's the Emissary's boss? And what, precisely, did your lot get hired to do?" Izzy tosses the ring onto the pile of useful loot. "And I'm sure your wives will understand that it was either the ring or the finger that it used to be on." He smiles grimly.

"The Emissary's boss is a Dark One (Shadar-Kai) arms dealer named Sarshan. He wants to expand from the their shadow plane into your world." The gnome reaches over for a napkin to wrap around himself. "Sarshan had two problems. He needed an easy way to move his arms and he needed materials. From what I've heard the Nexus gives him both. Once Sarsahn's handler Myrissa gets Tusk to invade Overlook they will have plenty of Dwarf slaves to do the job."
OOC- The Magic Items
Cap of the Mountebank- Daily cast a Dimension Door. Will leave behind a cloud of smoke and smell of brimstone. Already used today.
Wineskin of Bounty- Each day may create up to 5 gallons of any liquid. It may only be one kind of liquid and the person wishing must have tasted the liquid at one time.
Ring of Free Action- Difficult terrain does not cost you extra movement. Magic cannot slow, paralyze, or restrain you when wearing the ring.

Khadam comes back from the his former office and Rhal's former torture chamber. He holds half burnt leather bound books in both hands. He tosses them at the feet of the gnome. "Tiny one, You are going to tell me what the Shadar-Ki torn from these books. You tried to burn the evidence but I can see pages ripped out."
"They took the gate keys for the Nexus and the history of wards cast on the Deepest Vault." The gnome quickly squeaks out.
Fargrim (and Khadam)knows of the Nexus. The great gates of the Nexus could bring dwarven armor and weapons from one side of this to another, and even to other worlds. Each gate could march an army through it. Access to the gate keys have been a secret of the dwarves since the banishing of the Dragonlords. The Deepest Vault holds dwarven secrets and magick's considered too powerful to be released in the world. It also contains the accidents of dwarven work that are both wonderful and terrifying. It is hidden in the Nexus mines. The Nexus mines are closed on all sides. The only way in the mines are through a gate.

Delrin raises an eyebrow "Well, I may not know what a Deepest Vault is, but if someone bothered to make it so deep and ward it enough to have a 'history of wards', I'll assume they were trying to avoid trespassers. Nexus keys, on the other hand, I understand pretty well. The last thing we need is an Orc army that can instantly teleport into the Nexus gates and catch entire cities unawares. So, how about you share with us exactly who took these keys, where they took them, how long ago this happened, and how many warriors they have escorting them? Oh, and I want more detail on Myrissa and Tusk too. They sound like people we'll have to kill soon, so I'd like to avoid surprises."
OOC: So, who wants to lay claim to the spoils of war? In addition to the items mentioned 2 posts ago, we've got the +2 Ring of Protection and the Cloak of Displacement sitting outside on the dead gnome's body, both of which are massive boons to people who get attacked a lot. I already have one magic item, plus none of these are particularly archery-centric, so I'll defer to those in need first before I ask for anything.

OOC: Oloric wants to claim cloak of displacement. That's the item he was going to buy at first opportunity if that's cool. He has no items yet. He does have the black thing which may be a magical bag or portable hole? Whoever wants that can also have.
Maliks build is to boost AC as tank but he has the sword so I figure others should claim items since that is a pretty powerful one. He would take ring but can wait since others should get first choice.
And I'm now back in town and good to go.

OOC: I'd like the Ring of Free Action, but that might be better served with one of the tanks. Cap of the Mountebank could be useful, though. As far as the interrogation goes, what else do we need to pry outta the gnome? We should probably put together a list of questions (and answers!) so's we can wrap this scene up.

OOC: If possible Tleyar would take the Ring of Protection, since the build is focused on WildShape which would otherwise remove armor.

Khalad turns to Malik,"The Nexus is one the greatest devices forged by Dwarven artificers. Each mirror gate is 50 dwarf wide and 25 tall. The 8 gates of the nexus connect to gates throughout the world, the feywild, and though closed for ages the shadow realms and even the dragon isles. We use it to moves goods around the world, but the orcs could move whole armies within the walls of Overlook, Brindol, Rivenroar, even the sky cities Mendelland could be attacked."
"You have to admit Sarshan thinks big," The Gnome smirks at you."Tusk is wrapped around Myrissa's little finger. Personally, I would not mind being wrapped around Myrissa's anything. Hello nurse."
