The snowy cliff erupts rumbling down the cliff to land on the library below. The library is buried, smothered in snow. The last thing Fargrim sees is a pair of orcs with torches rushing from the library only to be buried under the smaller avalanche.

"Welp. Looks like its about time to go..." Oloric laughs making his way to the wagon and horses. Guess we can head back to town now.

Delrin gives his bow a few test pulls to be sure he's repaired it properly, commenting in the meantime "I'm not so sure about that. Sure, Alexandria MAY be able to rouse the town to send in troops to retake this area, but they'd have to organize, mobilize, and cross our avalanches, which would end with them laying siege to a heavily fortified keep. Meanwhile, each moment we tarry this Ambassador of theirs is pulling in more troops, and Gods only know what havoc a master of teleportation and portal opening could wreak against an army. Even if our allies were to win, the body count would be massive, and anyone still trapped in there wouldn't stand a chance."
He then nods at his bow, seemingly satisfied with the fix, and slides it into its holster as he finishes "We have several people familiar with the keep's layout. Our small group could sneak in, cut off their reinforcements, capture their leader, and sneak out before these orcs know what to do with themselves. We'd be taking a great risk, but the reward could be saving hundreds of others for each one of us. I vote we strike now, while we still have a chance."
"Tleyar, Rhal, you two are the only people with any knowledge of these orcs' setup. Do either of you recall where this Ambassador resided, or where the 'nexus of gates' you recalled was? Is it someplace we could reach without stumbling across their main force?"

"Delrin. It's over." Oloric repeats pointing to the snow mound that was the monastery. " The keep is buried. The farstriders will hopefully be able help since they had a mission in the vents. Let's get this updated news to town and regroup on what next we can do."

Fargrim and his griffon circle over the monastery for a few minutes. Any sign of activity from the other two buildings?
[Perception check total: 12]
Without taking his eyes from Fargrim, Izzy says over his shoulder "Let's wait 'til beardo gets back with the eyefull before we start making plans, guys, OK? But stick or run, we need to be ready for action, so strap up." Suiting action to words, he brushes his hand over his quiver of arrows, thrums his shortbow string, and quickly checks his blades.

He sees the snow settle. It has covered the library but the main building and stable is still uncovered. He notes they have tossed a couple more heads and the blood is think brown and crusty on the open necks. He sees in smashed open windows orc and dwarf bodies litter the lower level that was living quarters and the upper grand hall has all the windows burst open. The pews and alter within are destroyed. On a positive note he sees very little moving within. He counts maybe a half dozen he sees any movement at all.
Fargrim returns to the group as Khalad continues to watch from above.

"Are you mad?" the Paladin screams, "That dwarf just attacked and destroyed the monastery! If I was a weaker or smarter man I'd be scattering to the wind. We're going to jail and kiss future assignments goodbye. We've now done worse than the Orogs! I only hope we haven't sealed the grave on the farstriders as well."
Malik sighs and trods towards the wagon.

Delrin shrugs at Fargrim. "Well, I can't imagine Majere's too pleased, but Gaea must love the naturalistic aesthetic. We're a bit blind from down here, but did you manage to see if any of our foes are still trying to cause trouble? I'd rather they not try to sneak up on us with our backs turned."

Fargrim raises an eyebrow at Malik's exclamation. "It's called snow, lad; it's made of frozen water. It'll melt. F'r that matter, when the Council re-takes the monastery, they can bloody shovel it off the library. But the fire's out, and I doubt the orcs inside 'r havin' a good time." Turning to Del, he says, "Saw a bit of movement, but not much. No more than half a dozen or so. The main building and the stable are still open. They're still tossin' out heads, but it looks like they're from folks that're already dead." He spits at the thought. "Just like an orc, that! Desecrating the fallen, gods curse 'em."

“Bastards…” Rhal muttered under his breath at the fact that the orcs were desecrating the dead bodies, “No shame or honor. Just mindless brutes.” He sighed, “So what are our options? I don’t like the idea of leaving the monastery to the orcs, but if that’s not our best course of action, then I’ll relent and move on.”

I will open a thread for the Monastery and those who are going to the Monastery(if any). Any going back to Overlook may declare that and stay here.

For those who return to Overlook:
You begin to travel the path back to Overlook. An hour into you travels you find a trail of footprints in the snow. It seems to be multiple prints, some large bare feet, and others smaller booted footprints. Among the steps is a trail of red blood. (roll a nature check to know more about the trail)

OOC: This little bit is before the gang splits up and looks for clues. I just want to make sure I've got more info before Del makes a call for himself.
Delrin looks up at the elderly dwarf paladin still poised above. "Does anybody know what Khalad's thinking right now? With everything that's happened...I fear he may try something reckless-well, more reckless than what we normally do-and I can't allow that on a healthy conscience."

Fargrim looks back up the cliff. "No-one knows what that -" his face twitches slightly, "-stalwart defender of dwarven culture is thinkin'. But I'll go get 'im." Flying his griffon back up to Khalad, he calls out "Master Khalad! Y'r advice is requested below, on tactical matters!"
Does he follow?

As Fargrim flies back he finds Khalad has landed next to Tlyer before the Monestary. (go to other thread to see his answer)
