Khalad reaches out an pulls Rhal onto the back of the Griffon. He watches the dire wolf change. He face goes from surprise to a look of disgust,"Another elf! Never thought I'na see the day the Valley of the Hammer had more Elves than Dwarves within it." He reaches out a thick callused hand. "Well get aboard. AT least you won't weigh my girl down."

When the 2 former prisoners mount the griffon the beast with slowly fly back to the party encampment. Delrin may attempt to continue the bluff to keep the orcs and wolves from following for a time. (roll bluff check DC 6) Eventually the orcs will figure it out and begin to follow you through the maze of fallen ice, rock, and snow.
The party sees Khalad and Delrin return with two extra passengers. Khalad's griffon lands heavily sliding in the snow to a stop before the wagon.

A golden skinned man approaches the griffon. "Hello good sirs. I am Oloric. Who might you be?"
"Delrin what did you see? Are these rescues from the monastery then? Are there more still there?"

Izzy walks forward, shaking his head. "Guys, what part of 'scouting mission' was unclear? I swear, I can't leave you mugs alone for a second!" Turning to the new folks, he smiles. "Hi. We're the Golden Dragons. Welcome to the circus; hope you brought a helmet. So, the council sent us to warn you guys that some orcs might be planning to attack the monastery, so, y'know, you might wanna watch out for that. Seems unlikely, but you never know, right?" Looking over at Del, Izzy says, "We're gonna need eyes up on that maze; you think you can park your new ride up on the cliff someplace nice and observant, and give us a head's-up whenever the mook patrol look like they're getting active?"

Tleyar was still giggling, as the elf had done for the duration of the griffon flight. "Golden Dragons, very nice very nice." the druid responded. "Not real, though? In name but not in form. I was a Golden Dragon once, the Lady wanted one so I became one. I can't on my own, but the name would do just fine, yes. Oh, sorry, I'm Tleyar, both in name and in form, whatever it may be."

After holding his bow in a threatening manner for a few more moments (Deception 12), Delrin follows the other griffon back to the party.
Upon his return, he takes a moment to field the questions thrown his way as he finally gets a good look at the two newcomers. First, he replies to Oloric "We saw these two escaping the place, so I kept the small force of orcs and wolves busy while Khalad talked to them and loaded up. As for the other questions, you'll need to ask them."
Next, he says to Izzy "I could head up there, but I wouldn't be anything more than eyes." He holds up his damaged bow "I've got to remove this string and then reattach one of my backups, so I'll need about a quarter of an hour before I can get this thing combat ready again. I can't restring a bow and keep a watch for orcs at the same time, so I'd prefer someone else take watch this time."
Finally, he walks up to Tleyar and Rhal, introducing himself with a nod and a quick "My name's Delrin. Glad to meet you both, although the circumstances could've been better. You-" he specifically focuses on Rhal "I think Khalad said your name was Rhal? You must be freezing out here." Delrin places his pack on the ground and pulls out a black hooded cloak, grey tunic, and black boots, all clearly rumpled and worn-down. "I'm not sure if any of it fits you, considering that while I have this-" he points to his dark blonde beard "-I also have these-" he then pulls apart his hair to reveal a pointed ear "-but if any of it's suitable, you're welcome to wear it for now."

What height and weight is Delrin and Rhal? Cloaks and tunic should be fine but boots could be large or small. Large is okay but small could be a disadvantage.

[OK, who's got the best eyes in the crew besides Del? Izzy's got a +5, Fargrim's got +3; but I dunno about either of them doing real well with the griffons. Animal Handling +2 and +3, respectively.]

The man with the golden colored skin responds in kind "Ah, yes, another life ago I WAS the Golden Dragon. This form will suffice as it's the only one I've got now. It did inspire the name but seems quite fitting for a mercenary group trying to make their way and hopefully do some good in the world." Looking at his complexion you see a color clearly not that of a typical human. No suntan could bronze to the true golden coin coloration you see upon him. "I tend to have a craving for another kind of Dragon" making a remark to a typical nick name for the crowns gold. "Are there other survivors?"
(OOC: Malik and Oloric both have +4 Perception and low Animal Handling. I wonder why we'd bother to put a scout up there though. I think we have enough vantage from here to see them coming. Plus we probably should plan to either head over to the monastary or setup defensively with the wagons again. We should give Delrin enough time to get his bow ready.)

The hugely armored beast of a man in dark colored splintmail and a veteran barded warhorse steps up next to the rest of the group. "My name is Malik. If you are able to fight then arm yourself. If not then find safety in our wagon and we will do our best to bring you back to safety. If there are more orcs down the trail then let us be on with it. I like to do my killing before supper."

Rhal was an obvious human of a trim build; his body was built for swiftness rather than strength. His dark brown hair reached to his jawline, his eyes were a plain brown, his skin looked tan as if he spent a lot of time in the sun. Hair stubble accented his rugged features, as much to the dwarves dismay, he didn’t really want to grow a beard.
“Golden Dragons?” Rhal repeated with an unfamiliar tone, “Can’t say I’ve heard of you lot, but I appreciate the help and hospitality nonetheless.” He offered a nod of greeting to all who were present, his voice staying even despite having looked like he had been through several layers of hell, “I am Rhal, as you may indeed have heard from my dwarven friend. I resided in the Monastery of the Sundered Chain as student and aide. We were overrun by orcs a few days ago. I’m not sure if any others escaped but… many were killed. Too many.” He fell silent for a couple seconds, losing his composure for that brief time until he continued, “The only reason I am alive was the curiosity of why a human was living with a bunch of dwarven monks. A gnome named Githren tortured me for information of my background, but there was nothing to learn. I survived and escaped thanks to my elf friend here.” He motioned to Tleyar.
He gave thanks to Delrin as he was given clothing to help bear the cold and put on anything that fit, “Thank you for the gesture at the very least.” ((Rhal is 5’11” and 174 lbs.))
“I can help in fighting through these orcs.” Rhal answered Mallik, “I like to think that I’m competent in combat, especially with a chain in hand.” He held up a fist that was wrapped with a worn yet sturdy metal chain, “I was taught only to use violence when necessary, but… in these dark times it may be all too necessary.”
((Rhal has a perception of +5 for those wondering.))

[OOC tactical question for the GM: Can we actually see the maze well enough from where we are to tell if and when the orcs are coming through? I thought all we could see from where we are was the wall of avalanche rocks and snow. Hence the desire for a set of eyes higher up. Also, did the gnome have anything else on him? Insignia, cult medallion, weird tattoos? or just the bag of blackness?]
Character descriptions for the new folks: Izzy's a skinny human wearing worn but well-made dark clothes under newer studded leather, carrying a rapier, a shortbow and a hand crossbow at his belt. Dark hair, neatly trimmed mustache and beard, and a smirk that never seems to leave his face. Basically, the guy in the illustration to the left. Fargrim is an average-looking dwarf with chainmail, shield, and mace, wearing a silver holy symbol of Mathammor Duin, dwarven god of wanderers and explorers.
Fargrim stomps over to the new folks and starts checking them for injuries. How badly hurt are you folks?

Above the Monastery is a plateaued mountain that looks like the head of a hammer (Hench it's name). The Griffon nests on the top and it is the highest vantage point of the valley. You would have a good couple of minutes warning just staying here, but from a high vantage point you would know 10 or minutes in advanced (depending on how lost they get) before they arrive.
Khalad looks to the Monk. "You know that the Grandmaster and I fought over everything, but it was always out of respect." He holds forth a chain to Rhal. Rhal knows the chain whip as being made from the original chains that held the first Grandmaster of the Sundered Chain. It has been wielded by each Master since. Each master gave their blood and their last dying essence to the chain. (+3 Chain of the Grandmaster, Entangle causes d6 damage each round. +5 to disarm or trip rolls. Reach 3, May use dexterity bonus as bonus to damage but lose Dex spent bonus to AC for the round. Intelligent Artifact is able to train monk in the discipline. May also use chain whip as source of knowledge about the Sundered Chain.)

After passing over the clothes, Delrin rummages through his pack for one of his replacement bowstrings and begins going through the process of repairing his weapon of choice. As he carefully passes the string over the nock, he says in the vague direction of Rhal and Tleyar "Sorry to bombard you with questions, but this isn't the first time we've seen gnomes in charge of hordes of evil, so I have to be sure of something. At any point, did you see or hear of any Shadar Kai, or anyone going by the name of the Emissary? Maybe even word of a dragon crown?"
On the matter of clothing: Delrin's 6'1" and 160lbs, so the fit wouldn't be terrible, although I wouldn't call it ideal either.
Description: Delrin's a tall half-elven male with dark blonde, shoulder-length hair and beard. He's clad in a worn, dark brown cloak draped over a set of scale mail that contains small yet elaborate seashell and sea animal engravings that most definitely don't fit in with his primarily low-key ensemble. He has a pair of leather straps across his chest with a dagger sheathed on each, along with another belt across his waist that holds his sheathed silver rapier. Pressed tight on the cloak on his back is a pack with various connected hooks and holsters that allow him to quickly grab his yew longbow, black heater shield, or grappling hook, along with holding his quiver and a few pouches.

Rhal looked pretty banged up with some burn marks and bruises. ((HP: 18/31))
The young monk gazed down at the prestigious weapon being handed to him, reluctantly taking it, “Khalad… I’m not worthy of this.” He hesitated with thought, “But I shall strive to be worthy and I will carry it with honor. Thank you.” He strapped the weapon away, “I’m glad you survived at least. I could have sworn that near everybody was killed including you.”
Then looking to Delrin upon being questioned, Rhal replied, “There was one figure that made an appearance. Githren and the other gnomes called him the ‘Ambassador’. I could not get a good look at him, but I had a feeling that he was not all that he seemed. Other than that, I have no other information for you. Perhaps Tleyar may know more.”
