As Delrin steps through the bow in order to begin stringing the other side, he raises his brow enquiringly and looks up at Tleyar. "Wait, did you examine the body of the one you killed? Did it possess any written orders, or anything else that could help us start piecing together their plan? The more information we have, the better."

What is this? Is the chain… alive? Rhal thought to himself, I’m not Biannca, I am Rhal. Biannca is lost. Wait… why am I speaking to myself? I'm going mad.
The young monk shook his head, trying to clear his mind of the abstract thoughts. Afterwards Rhal thanked Izzy for the magical healing, then decided to speak up for Tleyar to Delrin, “We did not have time to search the body proper. Orcs were going to overwhelm us if we had stayed any longer.” He tried to recollect his thoughts for a moment, “My memories are a bit fuzzy from my time captured and tortured, but there was mention of a… ‘nexus of gates’? The Ambassador sent around half of his remaining orcs underground after the attack. Almost sounded like he was preparing to bring an army through, if such a thing even is possible.”

Rhal- The chain thinks to you,"If Biannca is lost in body we must be able to find her spirit. She is bound to the chain and her spirit will never be one with us if we do not find her. She will be a lost soul for all of eternity." The chain suddenly wraps around your forearm. It seems to contract the 20 feet of chain wrapping easily and seeming almost weightless. The last link ends in a hook and embeds into you flesh. You jerk your arm back from the pain but the chain is coiled around you. As a drop of blood rolls down the hook it is absorbed into the chain. You hear a hundred voices in your head. Each is thinking all at once your mind is only able to comprehend flashes of the bursts of ideas and emotions. "You are of the Sundered Chain." "Not dwarf" "Good in spirit." "Not dwarf" "Biannca spoke of this one." "NOT DWARF" "Not dwarf but Worthy." "Not DWARF" "Worthy." "WORTHY" "WORTHY" The thoughts become one with the word repeated over and over drowning out the protests. The thought of worthy dies bown to one voice who you can see in your mind is a spirit of a dwarf male wearing the tattered tunic of a slave. His spirit smiles and fills you with warmth (You heal 8hp) "Rhal of the Sundered Chain you have been deemed worthy. Use our power and our knowledge to help break the bonds of oppression wherever it is found and bring liberty to this world. One thing we do request is if you can find the body of Biannca. Her spirit and knowledge may then be added to our own. Know though that if you do accept the ownership of the chain your spirit will be forever bound to it."

Fargrim looks down the mountain at the Monastery below as the old dwarf rambles. He thinks back to his time and realizes that their avalanche landed on the recruits barracks, winery, gardens, and brewery. They have buried all of his favorite places. The stables (southwest corner), Main Hall (center), and library (North half octagonal building) still stand. AS he looks he sees smoke is beginning to float out of the windows of the library. Every moment he watches the smoke increases.

The elf gave a shake of the head as a response. "We had no time to examine the gnome." was the answer. "The avalanche happened immediately after, and we had to escape before we were surrounded by orcs. The Ambassador was there, however, and he was the one who ordered that Rhal be killed."

Once the smoke appears Malik will rush into motion. "We must get to the monastery post haste before it burns in its entirety!"

Izzy grabs Mal's shoulder and pulls him back. "Settle down, Mal. We're not here to put out fires; the only reason we're still here is to see about rescuing anybody still left inside. The monastery is done, and if the Council ever gets around to re-taking it, they'll scrub off the smoke and put in some new floors. I'm not dying to keep a bunch of rocks from getting a little crispy, and neither are you." He looks up towards the cliff at Fargrim and Khalad's observation point. "Wait til the topside eyes get back with some solid info."
Fargrim snarls at the thought of the monastery's library burning. Looking over at Khalad, he says "I'll wager those vicious beasts are trying to draw us out with that. Clever, if monstrous." He examines the cliffs nearby to see if it'd be possible to trigger another avalanche of snow on top of the library, to smother the flames.

Malik replies, "You are forgetting that there lies a portal to the shadow and The Emissary. This may be our only real chance to strike back and make a serious blow against whatever strange goings on has been planned by our enemies. I think we need to do something now before they get more time to re-organize."
Oloric thinks about it, "Perhaps we should put it to a vote. I'm not sure it's in our best interest to chase into some dark unknown hole. However, the Farstriders were going to the vents and may have stumbled upon the portal already. They may need help and I'd hate for us to not use the opportunity to show our worth to the council. Of course i'd just as easily settle for a good nights sleep on a soft bed and forget this monastary ever happened. What think you Del? Should we head back? I tired of this cold so either Overlook or into the fire for me."

OOC: How much longer until the bow's finished being repaired?
Delrin looks up from his bow and remarks grimly "There's no reason that the Orogs wouldn't have reached us by now if they weren't trying. That means that whatever they're doing right now is more important to them than killing us and avenging the dozens of their brethren who fell due to our actions. While most Orcs do seem to have a quarrel with the concept of literacy, I don't think they would normally hold that higher than their need for vengeance. Rather, there may be something of importance in that library they're trying to destroy. Something that could tell us more about the Hand, or the Crown, or the Shadar Kai, or something we don't even know is threatening us yet."
"Furthermore, based on what's been said, we've only been facing the vanguard of a far greater army, one headed by a fairly powerful member of our nebulous foes. They couldn't have possibly expected us to survive the battalions they sent, so they're still trying to recover their footing. As Malik suggested, when your foe's off balance, you need to use that opening before they recover. We have a chance to rescue those still in danger, like the Farstriders, collapse the tunnels the Orogs are hiding in, disrupt whatever portal system this Ambassador is using to bring in more Orcs, and maybe even capture and interrogate this Ambassador. In my eyes, there's far too much to gain for us to be concerned about the risks."

Bow is repaired.
Fargrim finds a good patch of snow over the library. It will take a skilled use of magic to loose it without causing one large enough to crush the library. (DC12 Arcane check for a person with a spell that can set an avalanche. Will need to be on griffon to cast at right spot).
Fargrim and Khalad see an object tossed out of the front door of the Grand Hall. It hits the snow splattering it in reddish brown blood. The object rolls over and Khalad sees a dwarven face looking up from the head. "Their killing them, Fargrim, and burning the library. The knowledge of our ancestors will be lost."

"Aye, well, we'll see about that." Fargrim mounts his griffon and swoops toward the mountainside, praying as he flies. "I am a stone, at the foot of the mountain. I am a tool in the hands of the gods. Marthammor Duin, guide my hand!" Pointing at the patch of snow, he looses a Sacred Flame cantrip.

Rhal does flinch from the pain as the chain embedded into his flesh, and the voices arguing in his mind left him confused and disconcerted until - to his relief - it died down and the warmth washed over him, healing any damage the chain had done. Staring at the dwarf in rags, while presumably in his mind, his thoughts raced as he lowered his head, and suddenly a chuckle was emitted, “That is not the worse fate that can happen to me at least.” He looked back up at the dwarf, “I accept. I will do everything in my power and yours to fight tyranny, and promote liberation and goodness. And I will find Biannca… I will not allow her soul to be lost while I still draw breath.”
Back in reality, Rhal was slow to realize what was happening, but quickly said to the others, “Even if this may be a trap or some ulterior motive, if there is still the possibility of survivors then we must lend aid! We cannot stand idle!” He looked ready to sprint if he had to.

"I will help." Tleyar interjected, seeming to have finished (for now) with giggling at the scenery. "I don't like seeing anyone hurt by those brutes. However, I reckon I've only got energy for one more transformation in me today, so if someone can lend me some leather armor and a good staff I'll be very grateful."

Malik points to the wagon. "There is some extra gear and weaponry there. Grab what is useful."
Looking towards Fargrim and the monastery, "It looks like we may be too late to do much now. It appears sir dwarf is trying to destroy the monastery."

In the wagon you find some leather armor and a tree branch quickly becomes a quarterstaff with some work with a knife you find on the wagon as well. (Add leather armor, staff, and knife to your equipment list) The armor is a little big and still smells of orc, but it will protect you.
