Delrin nods and adds "Sounds like a plan. I'll see if I can ferret out the spellslinger. I'm thinking that, if they had to spend so much time studying up on spells, they may not be quite lockstep on their military march..."
He then furrows his brow hard while staring at the group of marchers, looking for one shield that doesn't seem to quite fit in with the rest, or one gap in their wall.
Perception: 14. I can confirm they have shields. Also, they are most likely marching.

Are you going to stay in the gap in the mountains (where you are now) or move forward to the only passage in the avalanche (where the first shield wall is)?

Delrin does notice all of the marching feet are shod in metal and a pair of feet in the middle are larger. Probably ogre or mixed ogre/orc sized. He does not see the traditional footwear of an arcanist.

No major problems. Oloric isn't going to thunderwave them though. That could be suicide. He will web them and force them to split or take damage. Either way they will open up to ranged shots.

Oloric would need to get within 15' of the 12 or more spears of the orcs and whatever else is in that dome of shields. Web can be 60' away.

Thunderwave is 15' cube centered on me. That means he has to be within melee range. If they save then they aren't thrown and any who aren't can get attacks of opportunity.
Are they wielding weapons or only shields right now?
What Oloric can do is thunderwave and use careful spell to give disadvantage on the save. Only can do that once a day but its available. So lets plan on that. Swoop down and he thunderwaves and they all have disadvantage.
(7 points of damage , half if saved, DC 14 con save with disadvantage. Pushed 10' If fail)

They have long spears sticking out between the shields.
Khalad will fly the griffon and go on full defense to guard Oloric from attacks. Please make an easy DC5 athletic/acrobatic/nature (your choice) to stay on the griffon and not fall off onto the shield wall.
What is everyone else doing and please roll of Initiative.
BIC: The first shield wall/dome marches forward. You notice as they get closer that they are silent in their movement. They march up to your groups shifting strangely as if passing around things that are not there. As the second group passes the path through the avalanche the first and third units disappear. The second unit begins to beat their spears against their shields as they march. The noise echoes almost deafening. It sounds like hundreds rather than just a dozen orcs are marching forward. They chant in orcish a rough raging chant.

Oloric: initiative 22, casting thunderwave etc.
Malik: initiative 6, charging the group of orcs (still has shield of faith up)

Initiative: 16. Delrin'll get ready to pop some shots off at any orc that leaves itself open after the wave.
By the way, are these orcs one of the kinds listed on the "Know your Orc" page, or are they something different? I have a feeling we'll need to know their ACs in a moment.

Izzy init: 4, Fargrim init: 5.
Both are waiting for the Thunderwave to break open the shieldwall and get a better look at what's underneath. Izzy's up the wall about twenty feet (Athletics check total: 19, Stealth total: 25) hiding in a handy crevice. Fargrim's standing dead in the center of the pass, shield and mace poised and ready for mayhem.

As Oloric and Khalad swoop down on the thunderous dome of shields and spears. 8 of 12 oversized Ogre blood tinted orcs (Orog) are thrown in all directions. 4 weather the blast and thrust up with their spears. Khalad readies to defend but the orog attack the griffon instead. Each spear slices into the beast. Finally the large turtle shell swings upward smashing the griffon. Beneath it is a Orog that looks more ogre than orc. After throwing the shell he pulls up a gleaming great sword. Oloric and Khalad see a withered old orc crone riding on the Orog champions back before they go flying.
The griffon is pierced and then smashed by the shell. Oloric finds himself spinning through the air landing 20 feet behind the broken shield wall. The snow saves him from damage but he is prone. The griffon is pinned under the shell and dying. Khalad lands 10 feet from Oloric rolls in the snow and is standing upright.
