Malik "Heeyahs" and Conn charges the remaining War Chief. Yelling a Vow of Enmity against the Chief. "Prepare to meet Gruumsh!" the knight yells as Conn collides into the Orc. Conn kicks at the Orc but doesn't connect. It does, however, allow Malik full range to beat into the dirty creature! Malik swipes once, twice, and stabs a third time into the Orc. Blood spews mightily.
(Vow of Emnity to gain advantage against the War Chief. Malik attacks:
17/2+9=26, damage 2+7=9
Extraordinary attack: 20/2 (CRIT!) +0=29, damage = 5+3+7=15
Bonus attack from Great Weapon Master feat for crit: 7/20 (CRIT again! Holy crap i'm on a roll)+9 = 29, damage (adding my last smite +2d8x2) = 9+7+7 +(1+1+6+1 WTF!)= 32 Total Damage
56 Total Damage)

Corbin (human male Fighter 5th level) looks to her,"Not in the least Milady. Should we assist the Paladin with the Warchief or let him get out some energy?"
Your Hobgoblin leader Sinruth is dying on the ground just a half dozen steps from you.

Before you can answer of you should aid him the Paladin tears into the Warchief ripping the life from him with a flurry of greatsword attacks faster than one would think possible. Alexandria can see the spirit avatar of Lord Magnus swirling around the blade with each blow.
OOC: WAFFLE!
The orcs are dead and dying. The firing and smoke is beginning to lower to a normal campfire level around the wagon. The couple of remaining Hobgoblins circle widely around the new comers. The Lord converges on the spot the two elves wait with drawn bows. "So we converse, splendid. I am Lord Sommerhold of the Farstriders but probably already know that. Who do I have the pleasure of fighting beside." By his tone your pretty sure he means who had the pleasure of fighting beside me.
It is now confirmed that they are actually the Farstriders. The adventuring party of legend in the Elsir Vale. Lord Sommerhold and his band have fought dragons, rescued princesses, banished demons. (They are the New England Patriots of the world)

"Let him. It will make him easier to deal with." Alexandria sighed, her hand glowing white before pressing it to the Hobgoblin's chest. Alexandria passed all that she could, including a cure spell. ((OOC: 20 from Lay on Hands + 9 from Cure Wounds)) "This is not an end. You are not ended." She insisted.

Izzy wanders over to the shiny chick and smirks down at the newly re-livened Sinruth, slinging his shortbow. "Heya, Sinruth, how's tricks? Fancy meeting you here!" Looking over at Malik, he frowns. "So, Chopper, got all that out of your system for the moment? You shanked him, he fell over, it's all good now, right? RIGHT?"
Shaking his head, he smiles at Lord Sommerhold. "Kids. What're you gonna do?" Doing a full formal courtly bow, he says "Call me Izzy, of nowhere in particular. The angry fellow with the shiny pointy thing and the massive grudge against goblins is Malik; that short guy with the beard is Fargrim, of the priesthood of Mulhammor; the pretty kid with the scales that's ogling the ladies is Oloric, and the serious gentleman with the arrow fetish is Delrin Reltea. We heard there was profitable dogoodery afoot hereabouts, and thought we'd get in on the action." Looking around, he says "Sorry we interrupted your ambush. Maybe next time you should put up a sign or something, 'Ambush in progress, do not disturb', something like that."

The knight sits upon his Destrier solemnly. The warhorse seems still full of energy as it side steps around the remnants of the field. Almost as if the Paladin cannot control him "Clip, Clop, Clip, Clop, CRUNCH". The hard look upon Malik's face almost breaks into a smile but instantly his composure becomes his usual grim self. "Oops." he remarks looking at the crushed Goblin skull, "Apologies for my companion here. He doesn't like leaving things to chance." The knight rummages through his bags producing a carrot for the mare as it continues its random appearing dance through the area trampling anything that twitches.
As he allows Connan to nibble on the treat he continues, "Thank you Lady for allowing me another opportunity to kill yon kidnappers. I imagine the second time will be even sweeter. I don't tend to see those of our Order associating with such vileness but killing two orcs with one goblin seems a wonderful idea." The knight continues on awaiting word from the rest of his companions.

The gold skinned humanoid with the dragon headed staff wanders through the battlefield checking for anything of value on the corpses (OOC: Oloric will check for any valuables, etc on all parties).
Oloric glances once more upon the armoured female appaarently in command of the Farstriders but shakes his head, Paladins never know how to really have fun. Best not to start any trouble at least until i've fully recovered from last weeks debauchery he thinks as continues.
He looks around at his companions to see if any of them are truly injured enough to actually need some healing.

OOC: From my best estimates, the Hobgoblins have been running for 2 turns, and the first turn they'd need to disengage, right? So they only could've made it 90 feet north, and since Delrin's already up north himself, it looks like he can catch them in one turn.
With the orcs dropped, Delrin has Randir dash ahead to cut off the escaping hobgoblins. He stows his longbow and, upon reaching the mercenaries, explains in a calm, steady voice "Calm down. My apologies for the Paladin's zeal, but that is the quintessential aspect of a proper holy warrior, after all. Sinruth's already been healed, so let's just turn around, explain ourselves, and all walk away the better for it. The last thing we need now is more rash decisions being made. Deal?"
Persuasion: 16. Not his best speech ever, but hopefully that ol'Half-Elf charm will suffice for this one.

The Hobgoblins look to Delrin with hands raised,"We are here under employ of the Council of Overlook not some orc raiders. Wait." The Hobgoblin looks to Delrin's clothes and bow."Your the bowman shot me brother and cousin when Sinruth tried to bribe you. Your a right basterd you are." They return with you but keep weapons at the ready and never give you their back.
Sinruth shakes his head then quickly rolls to a standing position,"It's you from Rivenroar. I thought the Ochre Jelly wave crushed you." He points his chain at Malik,"When our contract is fulfilled with the council if you are man enough to face a a threat face to face we will have a reckoning." He begins moving through the group his hobgoblins fall in to either side and they begin to check the hobgoblin for signs of life.
Oloric sees the Hobgoblins give him a fiery look if he moves toward a hobgoblin. They seem to not care if he searches Orcs.

"See, Mal? Now you've got a date! Maybe we can work together now, without any more drama, just like regular people that hate each other's guts with a burning passion! ...and stop stepping on people, it's rude." Izzy shakes his head sadly. Looking at Lord Sommerhold, he says "These fellas seemed a bit more organized than the orcs I'm used to. They under new management or something?"
Fargrim checks the rest of the crew for injuries. [Did anybody actually get tagged in that fight? I can't remember.]

OOC: Delrin took 10 damage, but between the Second Wind he gets after every short rest and the 4d10 hit dice he can expend, it's probably not worth a spell slot, especially if somebody tries to jump us later.
Seeing as both Fargrim and Oloric are looking to tend to the wounded, Delrin quickly, but still carefully, removes the two arrows still protruding from his side. Each was little more than an annoyance, so he didn't want to cause an unnecessary fuss.
He'll then ride over to join Izzy and Sommerhold. After waiting for the Lord's response to Izzy's question, he'll pose one of his own. In a grim voice, he states "Lord Sommerhold, I understand that you and your fellows are required to work with these hobgoblins under the orders of Overlook's council, but I don't suppose you were made aware of the charges Sinruth faces in the town of Brindol?"
"Kidnapping. Murder. Conducting raids against innocent merchants entering the city. Collusion with a Wight, a Shadar Kai, and a trans-planar entity of unknown origin, all of whom worked under the banner of the Red Hand. Since the Red Hand is a cult of Tiamat, that also adds in heresy and blasphemy. Not to mention, while he lost his nerve and broke off his alliance shortly before it occurred, he played a large part in the attempted demonic possession of nine year old boy."
"In short, he has done very, very many very, very bad things, so I hope you understand our lack of friendliness with Sinruth. After the dust has settled and the dead are dealt with, may we take this opportunity to question him regarding what he learned during his employ under the Red Hand?"

"It was not an eventuality we had anticipated. While I do so dislike seeming ungrateful, we did have things under control. Though, I see your alleged 'Paladin' has yet to learn to steel zeal with temperance. His bloodlust is... concerning." Alexandria answered in a calm, even tone that was as melodic as one expected from a descendant of the celestial choirs. Her blade was lowered, but ready, for she expected Malik to do something reckless. She averted her gaze in order to respond to Delrin. "I would not believe he was a brother in the Order of Light. I expect such macabre fixations from the sybarites among the Order of the Sword and their fixation with putting the innocent and guilty to the torch in one fell swoop over mere whispers of potential daemonic activity." She turned her gaze to Malik, her tone not so much as fluctuating before her Solar ancestry was made apparent in the smoldering irises that stared at him in an almost accusatory way despite seeming utterly devoid of emotion. "You and I are not the same. My duty is that of a guardian and a hand to heal the wounded, you answer with blood." She heard his question as to why she worked with the enemy. She looked to Sinruth with his threat, finally allowing trace amounts of irritation to come through in her voice, she even raised it a little bit! "You will do no such thing, Sinruth. I have saved your life and that makes it mine if you do something as foolish as throw it away for the sake of a grudge. I do not take kindly to my gifts being wasted." (Intimidate 17 + 4 CHA = 21) Alexandria said rather forcefully, although her melodic tone only served to make her threat much more chilling.

"See? One big happy family! Listen, shiny lady, sad though it is, none of us are probably gonna be able to persuade these two knuckleheads of the merits of 'not stabbing people just because you don't like them'. They're both deeply invested in stabbing people as a lifestyle, and we should probably just resign ourselves to that and respect their choices, y'know? But if we can keep them from stabbing each other while we're on the godsdamned job, I'll be happy to count that as a win." Izzy give the shiny lady a tolerant smirk.
