Nobody could have survived that. What looked like a piece of debris slamming against the ceiling ignited again before smearing more of her against the floor. Her jetpack sputtered a few times, her mangled cybernetics jutting out of her face, her other eye torn out from a collapsed helmet. Her gorget protected her from decapitation, but if the smears where her lower legs used to be were an indication, she'd never walk again. She feebly dragged herself another precious centimeter or so before the burning duraplast was accompanied by the sound of her bone marrow in her remaining arm cooking, stopping her as she tried in vain to assess the damage. It was like staring down at herself. In that split second of clarity she observed being reduced to one now cooked limb and that what she believed was brain matter dangling over her now missing nose was her eye. All that she could tell after the fact was that her HUD was flashing a discouraging OPERATOR DEATH IMMINENT over and over and over again.
Seeing the carnage her act carried made her laugh. Or emit a bloodcurdling scream. She didn't know. She was delirious. She didn't care. Nobody with half a brain did.
Did she even have half a brain left? Who cared?!

OOC: 40 damage? 40? That's...wow...
Gthroc
As Stev sees the explosion erupt, he reaches for his medical backpack to start immediate treatment, but grasps only empty air. He had to leave it behind to use the jetpack. He feels guilt, helplessness, and frustration, all of which culminates as he gazes at the droid responsible and screams "You!" as he charges it with his lightsaber. He lashes at it two times, leaving nothing but scorched metal behind.
As his anger flows, Stev feels a darkness that pricks at his consciousness, beckoning him to give in to its power. It promises to give him the strength he needs to hurt the people who hurt his allies. To ensure no more innocents fall under the blasts of the droid. To protect the innocent from further suffering. No. I know where that path leads, and only more people get hurt. I felt it on Aariss. I have to focus on doing what I can with what I have.
Stev begins to mentally pull himself back from the brink, and checks on Vandal. She was making noise, so that meant she was still breathing, if nothing else. He activates his helmet comm and quickly fires out "Sigurd, Vandal's been hit! Bad! You'd better tell me that I can fly you over here right now!" As he awaits his response, he begins kneeling over Vandal, saying "Come on, I know you can get through this. Just focus your energy on staying alive. You've been through far too much, there's no way some clanker with a lucky shot is taking you down. Just stay with me."
Mechanics: Lightsaber Check 5A1B vs 2D. Net result 3 successes 2 advantages, activating linked so 2 hits for 11 damage each.

Plaza
Sivu looks to the congregating group and states "If we desire to give the droid fighters a large, easy target that would allow them to eliminate all substantial resistance at once, we are doing a fine job of it. I suggest we move to an area that provides protection from an incoming attack."

Muvon
Lodor continues to fire with the side cannons as he rips apart another Vulture droid. As he searches for his next target, he spies the incoming droid forces, comming "Brophar, it looks like we've got more trouble coming! They're attacking by land, air, and sea!"
Mechanics: Gunnery Check 4P1B vs 1D. Net result 5 successes 3 advantages, activating linked, so there's another downed Vulture.

Island
With barely a moment to recover from the intense burst of energy he just expended, Tevan gathers up everything he has left to throw a Force Blast downwards in the hopes of collapsing the floor and escaping to the ship below. He didn't know how the Darkstryder crystals were here or what they were doing, but he could think about that after he stopped them from asphyxiating him and the others.
Mechanics: Move Check 2FR. Result 2LP 1DP. Activating Move basic power with one strength upgrades (2 Silhouettes). Hopefully that'll be enough to tear open an escape hatch. |

Gthroc Stev rushes around the corner the droid flew behind from the force of the missile and finds the droid in pieces but two PD units are moving around it with blaster pistols. He destroys both Droids in his anger and calls to Sigurd. "On it commander," Sigurd responds. VIC  The Gthroc blaster cannon fires at and through the cultural center bringing what was left of it down and blowing over the heads of Sivu and the group. It cuts through the Imperial Plaza and through a half mile of buildings after it. Buildings flare up with fire and begin to crumble from the damage. Mushroom Garderns The cannon fire goes overhead as the group scatters. Ranna and the pilots move to the center of the garden which will be a good place for Deltas to land. Dr. Sigurd is escorted by Amura, Qesya, and Gunther north to the crater that has a smear that once was Vandal. Sivu knows that with the firepower being used regular buildings are not going to be much cover. Muvon Brophar screams in joy as Blu and Lodor both destroy the last of the vultures over the city. "That leaves just 100 more over the bay. Anyone ready for bowling for buzzards?" He pilots the Muvon toward the bay. Lodor already has targets in his sights. Island The troopers are fighting a holding action on the beach as Scourne's small unit fights from the trees. The Delta are overwhelmed by Vulture Fighters until a wing of X-wings cross overhead. They look like a hawks breaking up a fight of small birds as they fly into the formation and the Vultures scatter. In the defenders they fire missiles at the barges of droids. Gabby calls over coms,"Deltas take out the vultures attacking Muvon then land and get your pilots. Defenders concentrate on the barges. The X-Wings will take the Vultures over the bay. Once the crew is safe we will splatter the CUTHBERT ship." "Gabby that's 4 X-wings against 100. Those are impossible odds." Chan calls over the comms. "We are X-Wing pilots of the Republic Ensign Chan. We do impossible everyday." Gabby replies."and it is Wing Commander Binks." "Yes, Sir Wing Commander." Chan replies. Delta Fighter- Theta and clone troopers X-Wing- Gabby, Chan, Scimitar, Tal Defenders- Cobb, Ooban, Jonas, Kym, Meera Padawans on Island He blows the floor down to find the crystal is below the hull it begins to shake throwing the padawans around as it sinks into the ship. They are in the center of a sphere of crystal and can just see the movement around the outside. "What mission would that be CUTHBERT. Your mission was originally serve and protect the people of Gandel Ott." Kaiya asks in a calm nuetral voice. "The coming of the prophet will save all of the Empire. The people of Gandel Ott are expendable to insure the mission." CUTHBERT states. |

((OOC: Well, the threshold is double the negative wound value for instadeath, Vandal has 13 Wounds and hasn't been damaged this encounter, so she somehow got to survive, although she's not seeing use even remotely soon.))
Invictus took to the air above the Gthroc, dropping the rest of his ion grenades. ((Coordination: 3 Successes, 1 Advantage)) He remained cheerfully unaware of what was going on, though once he was out of grenades, he attempted to bring himself into the breach to destroy the cockpit and stop this beast personally.

The ion grenades burst on the hull. The hull is able to absorb the damage keeping internal systems from being damaged. The PD inside the turret attempts to track the fast moving Invictus.

Invictus hits the throttle and draws his lightpike, attempting to breach the canopy with it. ((OOC: Pilotting 2Avs2D, net 1 success, 1 advantage. Should I make a Lightsaber check if I'm not actually swinging and just trying to cut my way in?))

Ghtroc
With Vic heading to the cockpit, Stev looks at the contents in the storeroom as he guards Vandal. Hopefully, he'll find some decent medical equipment here, or at least something better than whatever Sigurd's carrying by hand. After all, they looted an Imperial Supply Depot, which hopefully means their haul wasn't limited to weapons and armor.
Mechanics: Perception Check 2P vs ?. Gross result 3 successes.

Outside
Sivu moves in an attempt to avoid the cannon's line of sight and follows vaguely in the direction of Sigurd and Co. He may not be much help healing the wounded, but he may be able to jump start the ship in order to give them a method of transport to the island where the droids are emanating from. Since the cannons are operating, the power core should still be relatively functional. Crash likely due to engine failure, but if I repair the casing and reroute auxiliary power...

"What're we waiting for then! Let's help the hotshots!" Lodor begins his opening volley at another Vulture, laying on a pile of shots that will hopefully down it. As he keeps up his assault, he adds "Tell you guys what, these little cannons seem to be working pretty well for me, so you can keep control of the turbos to maximize our rate of fire. Have fun!"
Mechanics: Gunnery Check 4P1B vs 1D. Net result 1 success 5 advantages. Activating linked for the two-hit combo, so 14 damage total reduced by double soak. Also activating a crit for good measure, rolled 5 (disappointing) so just an additional point of strain damage. Passing the last advantage to boost the next gunner.

"Blast! We can't let this thing trap us here! What can we do..." These are Darkstryder crystals, which means they are directed by the Force. Maybe we can just, well, will them to move?
Tevan looks at Jeniaya and says "You've always had a knack for influencing the wills of people, maybe you'll have the same luck against crystals? We don't need them to get hurt, we just need them to move. If that doesn't work, I'll try to focus on moving the crystals themselves."
As Tevan waits to see how Jen's try goes, he begins to focus on the Force presence generated by the crystals around him. If he needs to, he'll try to throw those presences out of their way.
Mechanics: (Plan B) Move Check 2FR. Result 2LP 2DP, so that's going to activate with a strength upgrade to move the crystals somewhere else.

Vic slices into the already cracked canopy and a blaster bolt greets him. It crosses in front of his face missing him. Looking in he sees a PD droid standing on the pilot seat firing up at him.
Stev finds a crate with four status chambers. He could carry or force move it to the crater that holds vandal. The chamber will keep her among the living until you find a bacta tank.

Sivu
Moving to the Gthroc he sees Stev rummaging around the crate through the hole in the side. The turret on top veers toward Sivu and fires on the approaching engineer. It misses but does crater the ground him the blast from the fire tosses Sivu forward (20 damage burst). Sivu lands and roll just 5m from the hole in the Gthroc.
Qesya ducks from the blast and charges leaping onto the top of the Ghtroc she is rushing up the side and tackles the blaster cannon turret. The entire unit shakes and the barrels bend upward 45 degrees from normal.
The slower Gunthar follows her.
Sigurd and Amura reach Vandal. "It is going to be okay." The Shador doctor states. Vandal can only hear echoes of what he is staying.
Muvon
Vulture fighters break port and starboard in the wake of the Muvon. Aren, Blu, Lodor, and T3 all fire into the masses of Vulture droids at this range and speed missing is near impossible. Missing is all near impossible for them and the MUvon is smoking and groaning with the damage. The bandaged canopy of the turret blows off and Lodor has the wind blowing his tentacles.
"Shields are down," Brophar yells. "We need to get some distance. Maybe we can pull some away."
The Republic fighters are dominating this first phase of combat as the droids work to adjust to new information.
The Delta land quickly Clone Troopers switching out and Fighter switching in. Theta and the other pilot lack their heavy power armor and jetpacks due to needing to fit and maneuver in the fighter.
Padawans
Jenna, Mikal, and Stev all attempt to use the force to stop the bubble. Instead they feel force spyders swirl around them. The Spyder attempt to dominate the Padawans. (2c vs. will + force die)

Sivu
The blast combined with the fall are enough to make Sivu see stars. As he flies in the air for a moment, he contemplates on how he needs to work on proper evasive maneuvers and utilization of cover. As he rolls onto the ground in front of the ship, his body begins to be covered with the dirt and debris from the ground. He'll be properly miffed when he sees the condition his cloak is in now, but he'll have to wake up first.
Mechanics: He's at -4 wound threshold, so nighty night. He rolls 42 on crit table, so he's bowled over. He's knocked prone (no problem) and takes 1 strain.

Muvon
"Don't worry about making things harder on me, I'm used to firing this suckers from hundreds of kilometers away. I can handle extra distance. Maybe we can head somewhere that smells less like a combination of burning scrap metal and death?" Lodor struggles with getting a clear focus with the air blowing him back into his seat, but he still manages to squeeze off one solid shot at the pursuing Vultures.
Mechanics: Gunnery Check 4P1B vs 1D1S. Net result 4 successes, so 10 damage.

Padawans
As the spiders attempt their mental assault, Tevan forcefully banishes them from his mind and asserts "No, I am not going to listen to you. I'm the person, you're the rocks, so that means I give the orders. Now get this wall out of my way."
However, while Tevan easily resists the spiders' sway, the other two kids aren't so successful. Tevan can feel the darkness taking them over, much like he felt it take Que earlier that day. In a moment of instinct, he grabs both of their lightsabers from their belts and says in an unsteady, pleading voice "Please, please don't make me fight you. I already had to stop Master from following the Dark Side today, I don't think I can handle fighting both of you too. Please don't make me do this." Still, in spite of his desperate hope, he can feel that his entreaty makes no difference. If they didn't break from the influence soon, he was going to have to take them down.
Mechanics: Discipline Checks vs 2C. Tevan- 1 triumph, 1 success, 2LP 1DP. Jen-1 failure 2 advantages 2DP. Mik-1 failure 1 advantage 1DP. Crap. This is bad. This is really, really bad.

Gthroc
Stev points back at storage and says "Sigurd, there are a few stasis chambers back there. I think those could help keep her stable after you work your magic. I've got to reinforce Vic, but I'll be back in a second."
Stev rushes down the halls towards the cockpit in the hopes of aiding Vic and flanking whatever foe lies ahead. Granted, since it's just one droid, it'll probably be dispatched before he gets there, but he's not thinking too clearly right now.

Invictus' hand shot out as he called upon the power of the Force. He wasn't sure how to feel, but he just reached out. ((2F... 2L 2D, he's neutral, so I'll burn two strain to take the dark. Two damage ignoring soak, and he's disoriented for the next round once immobilize wears off.)) He focused on gripping the PD unit and locking it down. Destruction was ideal but he was getting tired of being shot at. During this point, he closed on it with his ignited Lightpike. He'd simply destroy it once his power was up, or he grew tired of it, whichever came first. "I don't mind being shot at. Don't. Shoot. My. Ride." He growled.

Gthroc- Vic pins the PD with a thought and moves in with his Force Pike. Stev moves to the cockpit and see Vic has the situation well in hand. Above Vic he can see the large Qesya, Guthar, and Amura tearing the barrels off the cannon. In the hold Boom arrives and begins looking for good boom materials.
Crater 1- Siguard lifts the status chamber easily and drops it next to Vandal. He carefully moves what is left of her into the chamber.
Crater 2- Theta and the clones move to Sivu. Theta pulls a medpack and slams it into Sivu's thigh. (heal)
Muvon- Brophar pulls away from the swarm of fighters. A mass of Vultures protect two barges as they crush through docks and small vessels to the land. "Theta we have a couple of hundred clankers unloading at th e and heading downtown."
Island- Clonetroopers skirt the edges of the scattered battle droids picking off one after another. Scourne launches a missile into a group of droids. Jessa is glowing and suddenly releases a burst of power leaving her in all directions. Thanis is caught in the blast radius and blown back against the side of the large ship. Jessa drops passing out onto the sandy ground.
Padawans- Mikal and Jenna drop to the floor of the sphere. Tevan can feel in the force they are still alive. The sphere slows and the side melts open showing Kaiya, Krudar, and the arrested crew standing in the middle of a dome of crystal.
A computerized voice states,"Come forward. You would be an excellent vessel."
FarStar- The ship is in the upper atmosphere as the hyperdrive enagages. The FarStar is gone.

OOC: I know the other pilots Lodor left behind are in ships now, but what happened to Bifzik? We could really use his skills right about now, although, admittedly, this ship doesn't exactly have the best Verpine survival rate.
Gthroc
Stev nods to Vic and says "Good work. Hopefully that means we can get this thing flying again for us soon. However..." he turns on his comm "Everyone, I need everyone who has skills with engineering or programming here. We need this Gthroc to be mobile again, but we also need to be sure the thing that's controlling the droids isn't also inside the ship's computers."
A shaky-legged Sivu stands up thanks to the Clones' assistance and responds in a gasping breath "I...was able to stop...transmissions to the hovercabs. I may...be able to adapt my defenses to...protect the ship from interference." After giving a quick nod of appreciation to Theta, Sivu begins to stumble his way into the Gthroc and towards the cockpit.
Mechanics: A stim heals Sivu back up to 1 above his threshold. He's living on the wild side now. Living on the edge. He's on a highway to the danger zone. I'm running out of classic rock/pop references. Oh, one more: Theta kickstarted his heart.

Muvon
Lodor says "Cover my station." as he gets out of the gunner's turret and heads to the cockpit. He pulls out the datacrystal and hands it to Brophar, stating "Sorry I couldn't pass this along earlier, I was busy trying to keep us from imminent death. Thane passed me this right before everything went wrong. It says that the old starship on that island's the thing controlling these droids, and it has pretty much all the info we need to take it down. How's about we stop dealing with the symptoms and start taking down the virus, eh?"

Padawans
Tevan surveys the room, and it's definitely looking bad. He can't get the crew the weapons they brought, his brother and sister were down, and apparently some computer was going to try to uplink into his brain or something via Darkstryder. He'd say he's got a bad feeling about this, but that at least leaves a chance of things not going horribly wrong. He decides that his best shot right now is to play along and stall long enough to wait for his opponent to make a mistake.
Tevan walks out of the bubble with the most confident look he can muster, gently levitating his siblings behind him so they wouldn't be trapped afterwards. He looks for the source of the voice and replies "Why do you need me? Who or what exactly would I be a vessel for?"
As he asks, he reaches his mind out a few moments to see if an opportunity would arise for him to shut this station down or at least free the rest of the crew. It never hurts to be a step ahead.
Mechanics: Forsee Check 2FR. Result 2LP 1DP, so he'll activate the basic power with one strength upgrade. Hopefully that'll involved details like "Push this red button to save the day." |

Roll Call Stev in the cockpit Vic in the cockpit Sivu on the ground outside the Gthroc Theta and 3 troopers are by Sivu. Amura, Qesya, Gunther on top of Gthroc destroying things. Slyer is helping Thane, Allistar, and Alta Dyson toward the Gthroc. Vandel, Dr.Sigurd, Gammer, and Sasha or scrapping Vandel into the status chamber. Bif Zik is with the clones by Sivu. He can head toward the Gthroc if you call him over. Boom is in the cargo hold of the Gthroc. Island Kaiya, Krudar, Noel Ciro, Erroll, Tevan, Mikal, Jenna are with CUTHBERT 4 power armored Clone Troopers, Thanis, Jessa, and Scourne are in front of the Lucherhulk. Muvon Brophar, T3, Blu, 2 Jarrels, Lodor, Gorak, and Aren are on board. Delta Fighters Keeg, Ranna, Fiona, and Carne X-Wing- Gabby Binks, Chan, Scimitar, Tal Defenders- Cobb, Ooban, Jonas, Kym, Meera Everyone else is on the FarStar somewhere in Hyperspace. Mushroom Gardens- The downtown is pretty under control. 2 barges and a wing of Vultures are on the way.  You have swarms of 20 or more Vultures all over the bay. The Deltas, Defenders, and X-wings are almost lost in the swarms of Vultures. The Muvon is getting some space and T3 is racing around trying to damage control the vessel.  You do not have any forces at the Docks. Low'Khar's people are setting up some firing to slow them down, but they are thugs and thieves not fighters. The 200 droids will probably head for the Montrol bridge and downtown.  |

Gthroc
The clones and crew walk crawl and drag each other toward the Gthroc.
Sivu and Bif Zik look to repairs. Bif Zik notes that removing the rubble from the surface can keep sensors and shields from being damaged when they move. Qesya, clones, Amura, and Gunther begin tossing pieces of the destroyed building off the top of the ship.
Boom and Gammer arrive to assist and Sivu is amazed at Booms knowledge of engineering.
Within the first minute Sivu has his program installed, Bif Zik has repulsors and ion activated. Boom has repaired the shields. nothing can be done for the destroyed turret, the hole in the cockpit, and the large hole in the cargo hold.
Slyer, Sasha, Thane, and Alta do secure the crates with a webbing system they find.
Dr. Sigurd moves Vandal to the a passenger compartment.
(OOC Sivu receives a Destiny Point for excellent 80s hair band references.)
Muvon
Brophar takes the information,"Let's get everyone on board with this." He sends the information to Deltas, X-Wing, and Defenders.
The Muvon makes a stable dive allowing Blu and Lodor firing arcs on the Lucherhulk. They can paint targets easily on the antennas extending from the ship. Lodor notes that one looks to be made from a crystal instead of durasteel.
Jonas wiggles his defender through the swarm of Vultures and skims over the Lucherhulk his missiles splatter an antenna. "That is how it's done boys..." His boast over the comms is cut short. A blue lightning courses from the Lucherhulk over his defender. Jonas screams then the comm goes dead as his fighter spins and splashes down in the bat north of the island.
CUTHBERT
Tevan steps out his family floating behind him.
"You would be a superior vessel for the prophet than the current specimen in the mission directives." CUTHBERT states.
"This child will not be a vessel for anything. Your a toaster with delusions of grandeur." Noel Ciro moves forward between Tevan and the computer. The crystal on the ground below him rolls up his legs and body trapping him. As the other crew try to move they are also trapped in the crystal. It at least leaves their head free.
"These carbon units are required fro completion of mission directives." CUTHBERT states. "Noncompliance will lead to elimination."
Tevan looks around and sees the room is covered in the crystal. The computer system known as CUTHBERT is covered in the crystal also. In the eye of the force he sees spyders are crawling along the walls. CUTHBERT has a large what looks like a force centipede crawling over his systems. It's smokey eyes stare into Tevans.
"SO you see the real me. That proves your power is great." CUTHBERT states.
Tevan looks into the force and sees himself laying next to his family in this chamber. Locian stands over him with 10 other dark users when the ceiling rips open. Tevan sees the silhouette of the figure dropping from above. Then the vision ends.
