OOC: +1 Survival, unfortunately. It looks like he won't be good for much more than soaking hits on this one.

"All right then, folks. Try not to get killed while we're getting ourselves killed, it'll make it seem much less dramatic." Izzy heads back to the balcony and climbs over and down to the first level. [Athletics roll total: 10/19; yay for magic advantage!] What's the bottom here look like, and what can he pick up, soundwise? [Perception total: 10; bah.]

OOC: Malik isn't too bad with Fargrims healing so let's just avoid having the injured parties in melee to finish this I guess. Malik and Oloric both have +3 perception. Malik has 3 divine sense and used 2 so he has one left.
Malik uses his divine senses to see if he can perceive the location of the gnomes or any other evil threats.
Oloric helps the search looking for anything out of place (perception 12)

The Captain speaks,"The Keep has a gateroom on the first level. It allows passage to the feywild, shadowfell, and other worlds if you know the proper ritual to open it. The Gnomes know of it and used it within my sight to travel back and forth from the Feywild. Another they called the Emissary also used the gate from the shadowfell. He seemed to be the one who brought gnome, goblin, and the Baroness together in like cause."
Hraken can track them easily their perfumed smell is very different from the undead and goblin stench. He also strangely smell fresh water nearby."There scent is an easy one to follow. I also somehow smell fresh water in this place of the dead."
The Captain looks to you all,"My grandfather would tell stories of his life in the keep. He told of a fountain that drew waters from the heart of the mountain. The water was said to be refreshing and healing waters. It could also be used to see all that happens on or in the mountains view." He looks at the frozen blacken waters. "I thought it destroyed looking at this desecrated pool but maybe there is another source."

Malik stands gazing, his thoughts elsewhere dreaming of one day entering the shadowfell and slaying all that evil one by one. He examines this weapon and it changes to a greatsword. "This weapon outshines any weapon I've seen before. It shall taste the blood of evil this day and with Magnus's help one day find this Emissary as well. Lead on to glory and I will follow."
Oloric asks, "Not that i'm not up for more adventure but should we not ensure the safety of the others before we go hunting greater foes? If we can find these gnomes that would be great but let's also not forget why we are here".

After you climb down The Captain states he will climb up and protect the people of Brindol. Your group climbs down into the ashes of spider and webbing. Hraken can pick up scents of perfumed gnomes to the west and rushing female goblins in all directions. Some of the old timbers from the jousting fencing still burn the smoke flowing up. There is a half burnt silk bag in the ashes the coin within has half spilled out (100gp). It sits beside a burnt skeleton. There are also some fired blades, axe heads, hammers, and a small smithy area. It is all burnt beyond immediate use but a smith could clean them up and make a small arsenal from them. Looking for an exit you see to the west are stairs leading back up to the second level. The hallway south has a pair of doors that are iron gates then leads to the goblin barrack, the gatehouse, and the way out. Attachments:

Going up the stairs the room looks to be a former meeting, training, and storage area for the keep guards. Most things in the room are broken down and weathered.

"Hey, Hraken, you still smelling them over here?" Izzy looks for other exits from the western room.

Does Malik sense anything?

Being a skilled metalworker, Blackarrow cannot help but imagine for a moment the wonders he could work with that much material at his disposal, but as he realizes that the embers are rather recent, he takes a moment to make sure none of those flame-spouting statues are in the area. If the coast is clear and Malik doesn't sense anything particularly nasty nearby, he'll quietly plod towards the southern gates and see if he can peek underneath the door to get a glimpse at what's on the other side.

Hraken follows Izzy up. The room has a few narrow windows that open to the roof and look out at the tower Sinruth was first seen in. The only connected room is an old officer's/war room. Everything in it is pretty rough and old also except the shield and crossed swords on the wall. Th shield matches the worn heraldry on the banners through the keep showing the Rivenroar gatehouse with twin rivers running to either side. The swords are long swords of good make. The room has no other exits. Hraken speaks,"The scent is stronger on the first level." Fargrim also stands in the room with you. ------- BA moves down the southern passage and see the two gated doors enclose prison blocks on each side. Each has a guard room with 2 cells. It looks like the rooms and cells had been used recently. Just south on the floor is a elaborate pentagram in red with a flowery arcane script that looks almost fiery in the way the letters are designed. Paelius follows BA south and looks at the circle,"It looks to be some kind of summoning circle. Possibly from the elemental plane of fire." Malik and Oloric stand in the jousting court as Malik extends his senses. Malik feels the gnomes are west. He can feel the evil of the necrotic pool above. The goblins feel more desperate than evil and are passing to the east and west of your position. The pentagram to the south just doesn't feel right. To the northwest you feel a mind broken by fear. To the west you feel more danger, chaos, and evil but it feels further away than it should if it was in the keep.

Malik informs the others he senses the gnomes west. He moves in that direction but slowly to allow the others to join. "Something odd is also coming from that pentagram"
Oloric moves west but stays back so he can use ranged cantrip if needed allowing the others to move in as well.

Fargrim studies the pentagram carefully [Arcana check total: 19] trying to understand what it's there for and why Malik is getting such an odd vibe from it. Izzy leans against the wall nearby, thinking about the whole situation and what's the best way to get to the gnomes before they get away. [Investigation check total: 21]

Izzy and Fargrim leave the war room on the second level and return to the first. They stand with Blackarrow and the rest in the hallway that leads south and out of the Keep. The pentagram dominates the floor.
Fargrim looks over the markings and responds,"This is defiantly a summoning circle. Why put it in a hallway and why put it next to the cells? Does it have a trigger of some type to automatically summon or is it just a circle. Long shanks you know of traps and sneaky things. What do you see?"
Izzy looks to the pentagram and sees that in a groove in the floor stones is a line of the same metal leading from the pentagram to each prison door. He tosses a rock on the circle and nothing happens. Izzy looks at the prison doors and finds they are unlocked.
Izzy remembers there are three gatehouse that interconnect and lead into the keep. If you make it back to the gatehouse you can west and east to any part of the first level.
Paelius looks at the circle feeling for arcane energies,"The circle does radiate magic energy like a magical item. That energy is strongest in the metal that extends to the prison doors. Probably some type of trap and defense against someone trying to get out jail free."
