Malik approaches the Lord Warden. "Sir, what is it that you had to say? Speak it now? Do you have any insight that might help before this whole meeting breaks apart?"
He thinks about the goblin prisoner and rage boils up inside him. Knowing he could not help question the prisoner without losing his temper he speaks, "I, too, would like to assist in hunting down the leaders of this conspiracy. In fact, Magnus demands it of me. Has noone else information on where the goblins normally live? Nothing to help us hunt them down? We must go now while others help get the city back in order. I am a visitor to this area but lend my axes to the removal of this evil.
OOC: I was going to attempt to be intimidating but I roled a 4 for 10 total Intimidation.

"Perhaps you should try that one out with our feline friend; he seems admirably suited to the 'bad guard' role. I dunno how well he'll deal with the 'good guard' part, though..." Izzy stands up and walks over to Hraken, smiling.
"Maybe you and our smooth-tongued friend Wordwise here should have a chat with Morrie the hob. Between the two of you, I'm sure you can get some useful information out of the old rascal." Turning to the rest of the council, Izzy smiles even wider and bows politely. Deftly scooping the bag of gold from the table, he says "I assume the council will have no objection to our using this generous offer to supply ourselves for the coming expedition? We will need tools and weapons and suchlike before we venture out into the howling wilderness..." Looking at Lord Gunter, he raises an eyebrow. "... and how many gems was that that you were offering, out of curiosity?"
[200 gold between the nine of us isn't gonna go that far; it's just 22.2 gp apiece. That's assuming we're counting Almok and Wordwise in the divvy-up. We've got me, Paelius, Malik, Oloric, Fargrim, and Hraken (and Blackarrow, up in the rafters) as well as Almok and Wordwise for the npc squad. Are they full npcs, or are you running them for somebody to drop in later, o wise and power GM?]

The High Lord takes the sorcerers words as a chance to regain control. "Yes, We need information and direction. As we continue to plan a prudent course of action Hraken and his bounty hunters could begin to find leads to ascertain the location of ..... he continues to drone.
The Lord Warden will follow you as you leave,"You will treat the prisoner as a Golden Lion would. We will not become the barbarians we fight." He grabs the gold pouch from Izzy. "I will hold your payment for your return with actionable information. The town council will double the reward promised by the lady"

When you leave for the Marketplace stage and the stockades.
Approaching you see three bodies in the stockades. The Hobgoblin is flanked by two guards of the Golden Lions locked in beside him. The Hobgoblin's wounds have been bandaged, but a number of tomatoes on the ground and smaller stones indicate that his treatment hasn't been completely kind. Flanking the group are two Golden Lions guards. Izzy recognizes them as Nodwick and Red. A group of young children rush forward and throw a few tomatoes at the hobgoblin. Red shoos them away as you approach.

[IC, but on the inside: Oh, it's like that, is it? I'll remember that, Lord Warden.]
"Well, then can I assume that the Council will be willing to help us gear up for the expedition that they've sent us on? Line of credit with some local merchants, something like that? Or is this supposed to be straight out-of-pocket for us, as we go in search of your kidnapped citizens and stolen relics? I don't know about the rest of us, but I just got here. I'm just a visitor; this is not my town, these are not my people. You're asking us to risk our lives to save your people. The least you can do is give us a little assistance to get the job done."

Lord Noel Prasad looks to the young thief,"They have my friends. You come to Guild master street and we will make sure you are well prepared for the journey." He slides off his seat."I will go begin preparations."

"Thank you, m'lord. That's all I wanted to know." Another polite bow to Lord Prasad, and then Izzy looks over at Lord Wajit. If he's not super busy, I'll wander over and say hi.
"M'lord Wajit, a pleasure to meet you at last. Allow me to express my gratitude to you, as a visitor to this fine city. Your excellent establishments are really some of my favorite places to be. [blah blah flickety blah compliment compliment...Izzy's giving himself conversational cover to slip some Thieves' Cant in. What he's really saying is "Hi. Want to make sure I don't step on anybody's toes, professionally. I'm just in town as a visitor, and I haven't had the chance to connect with the local guild yet." Does Wajit respond, or am I blowing smoke at the wrong person?]

The Lord looks to Izzy and smiles,"My friend Ned Chetum will contact you. We are citizens of this city also and will provide any help we can. It is good to find you are an upright man."

Malik will wait outside the stockades. He will ponder what has transpired at the meeting awaiting to hear words from the group on what information they acquire.
Oloric will join the interrogation but has no useful spells and will only join in if needed. He is hoping someone has a charm spell or some such to help.

[OOC: Well, I'm hoping the bard's got one in his trick bag. He should at least have Charm Person; who'd build a bard without it?]
Well, that's all Izzy wanted to do in council, so unless somebody else has something they want covered, it's on to the stockades. Just out of curiosity, who're the two guards in the stockades with the hobgoblin? The two dudes who let Batman go free?

Hraken, frustrated with how the meeting went, races down to the stockade. He positions himself off to the side, but making sure the hobgoblin can (and does) see him. If this interrogation doesn't go as expected, he will have to intervene. For now he just scowls, never taking his eyes off the prisoner.

After rolling his eyes at the continued ineffectual leadership of the town, Blackarrow mulls over what they mentioned. The goblins took potionmakers, priests and their offspring, and the Jairos. The first two would be useful for healing, possibly even a resurrection. Azar Kul may not stay as dead as we'd like. The Jairos though...they hold the secret, I think.
Blackarrow breaks from his thoughts and turns to Ned, whispering "I spent too long away from this town, so some of the details of the Battle of Brindol escape me. I know Sertanian was a warmage at the time of the battle, but was he known for slaying any particularly important members of the attacking force? His family could have been taken away as revenge or..." Blackarrow hesitates for a moment, weighing the grisly possibility. "...a blood sacrifice for use in a resurrection ritual to bring back those he had slain. Possibly even both."

The guards are the ones who let batman go.
Ned looks to blackarrow. His family came to Brindol decades ago and Seritien did help destroy the red hand. It is rumored his family were nobles before.

Walking up to talk Red greets Izzy,"Good to see you made it through the night slick." He then turns to the next group of children sneaking up. "Don't even think about it. Get off my lawn you dang kids."
The Hobgoblin Morrik looks up at the group. He has been stripped to him tunic and his banded armor and weapons tossed in a pile next to the stockade. He wears a torn tunic with a red hand painted over the left breast. He states simply,"I'm not saying anything without being released."
OOC: You may use discussion an skills to try to gather information from the hobgoblin. Hobgoblins are not screaming stupid crazy creatures like goblins. They are known for order, discipline, and honor. Think more like Klingons than gremlins.
