After discussion you find your rooms and catch a few hours rest before the coming of the dawn. You know that the Captain asked you to meet at Brindol Keep. The Keep was the home of the Brindol family. The former rulers of this part of the Elsir Valley. When the mad king Hethen Brindol IV was overthrown by his own people the monarchy was replaced by the High Lords Council. His keep became the headquarters of the Golden Lions of Brindol and the center of government. As you walk through the city much of the city is untouched. The gatehouses, Chatren Inn area, Hall and Temple, and marketplace have removed the goblin bodies and the Temple of Grithstane has the bodies of the citizens preparing them the underworld. The Keep has an outer wall and within is a small orchards of Brindol pears and apples. The inner keep wall opens to a training area and stables to the west and the kennels of the hounds to the east. Entering the keep the throne room has been replaced by a meeting room. Nobles, guildsmen, and soldiers sit on benches of long tables. When you arrive a squire greets you and brings each of you to a table toward the head of the room.

In the morning, in a room in the inn, Paelias prepares a new spell (burning hands) in addition to the ones he had prepared yesterday. He puts on his best robes and then he joins the others on the way to the keep. Entering the meeting room, the former throne room, he respectfully greets the squire, he nods to the guildsmen, especially those of his own guild, and bows his head to the nobles. All the time, he's looking around for someone who doesn't belong here. And if he spots such a person, he'll make a mental note of it to himself and keeps watching the suspicious person or people.

[What, you mean, like US? Heh.]
[Previously, on the Izzy Show: During the night, at the inn, Issarion tries out his new ring. What's it do?]
Izzy follows the squire to the table, and takes a seat off to one side. He's watching the crowd, trying to get an idea of who's REALLY in charge. There's ALWAYS somebody in charge. [Insight total: 21. Nice! Watch all the rest of my rolls be 5 and under...]

In the high rafters above the halfling thief Ned (also known as Chetum) sits next to Blackarrow. They watch the proceedings in the former throne room below.

As Paelias is not a citizen of this town, he regards it as a great honor to be seated at one of the tables close to the lords. So he's waiting respectfully for one of the lords or ladies to start the meeting. But he does try to get the Lord Gunter's attention, by sending the squire to him with Paelias' letter of introduction of the gemcutter's guild. Paelias also writes a little additional note, saying:
"Honourable Lord Gunter, please forgive me my boldness and grant me a bit of your noble attention; it appears that I may get involved in a dangerous mission on behalf of this city and I hope that you, as leader of the gemcutters' guild in this city, are willing to assist me, a member of that guild, with a loan or with equipment etc., if I need such assistance on this coming mission. Paelias, professional gemcutter, educated by master Gobbletook."

Blackarrow gives a large grin as he sees Ned approach on the rafters. He whispers "You had me worried there, my dear old friend. I was beginning to think you wouldn't show-and considering recent events, I wasn't sure what that would mean."
After exchanging pleasantries and stories of their actions the prior day, Blackarrow finally adds "I did some searching at the Hall before the Lions rebuked me, and my findings are troubling. Have you heard of anyone making any large transactions of pottery or powder? I don't think that goblins could get their hands on enough of either to make such a large number of fire pots without outside aid, so if we can find a vendor, we may have a lead."

Fargrim felt particularly enlightened during his morning prayers, and felt he could try and prepare an extra spell. He chooses Bless.
He was not expecting that many people at the Brindol Keep and wishes he had groomed his beard a bit better. He sits near his newest acquaintances from the battle the day before, feeling bad for seeing Sertanian's name on the list; they left the old man behind at the Hall and now he was taken away Duin knows what for.

Malik will use his divine sense to read each persons aura as he await the start of the meeting. It seems that with all these gathered it may be possible someone has an agenda that does not coincide with the others.
He will skip Derrius, Wordwise, Izzy, Paelias and the firemage.
"He will question those nearby on Derrius's rank in the Golden Lions with the leader now missing. Is he second in command?
Otherwise he will wait unless he senses evil great enough to cause him to shift his focus of attention.

OOC- Malik can choose 4 to read with his senses.
Malik talks to the local soldiers he fought along with last night. He finds that the Lord Warden Orenna is the official leader, but Captain Jairo has always been the favorite leader of the Lions. Captain Derrius is a good man but a little to stiff for most soldiers. He is now second in command.

Paelius receives a bone jarring slap on his back,"So Goobletook trained you. You must feel lucky to be trained by the second best cutter in the vale. Don't you worry I can get Jarmaan and Orenna to open the purse strings a little. With Troyas watching over them it will be only a little open. The man lives to count coins."
