Oloric looks at the knight, "I think master arrow and Izzy have the right of it. Perhaps we should make a grab at the body while the others ready to fire on any chasing spiders. If they don't come out we can burn the webs and finish any stragglers that might try to escape."

Mushroom layout each square is 5 feet. Brown Squares- The brown mushrooms are cloudspores harmless but annoying. Yellow Squares- The large white are shriekers and can wake the dead with there screams. Red Squares- The red capped are slumberspores and will put you in a happy place. Blue Squares- The grey release doomspores that will kill you where you stand. There are broken walls that are now 2 to 3 feet high. The rectangular room with the spider webs is open to the sky and about 30' to the bottom. The room north has a ceiling, is on the second story, and the 3 spaces jutting out on the south end are balconies. Webbed squares are hazardous terrain. You are not close enough to see exactly where anything is in the room. Attachments:

Blackarrow sneaks forward through the mushroom garden as the old witch/herbalists begins to gather foodstuffs and various plants from the garden. arse you stare at her she states,"Nothing scary boys I just thought when we find the Captain I could have something whipped up to help treat him." Blackarrow sneaks to the east side of the spider's lair. He looks and sees a Large spider in the center of the balcony room. The entire balcony room is one large web. It is a full 10 feet along it's body with legs stretching out to 20 feet. A duo of 8 feet long giant spiders are in the main room and 2 furry legged wolf spiders that are 3 feet in length. Smaller spiders move throughout the room and have gathered in a large swarm in three areas. One of the three is the center balcony where Blackarrow sees the gauntlet covered hand of his friend sticking out of a cocoon of webbing.

Malik steps forward, "I should be the one to try to grab the captain. The rest of you have excellent skills with ranged weaponry and spells. Get to good positions and ready to fire and I will make my way in and attempt to grab the captain. I sense this will not go as planned, however."
OOC: Oloric is probably in a good enough spot to hit anything that comes around with a Fire Bolt or other spell.

OK, Fargrim, Malik, and Hraken head back to the towers to grab some goblin corpses for bait/distraction. Assuming nothing jumps them on the way, they'll bring them back here, and over to the left edge of the roof. Oloric and Paelius will keep watch at the edge, with ranged damage cantrips at the ready for any of the spiders that get too curious about what we're doing up here. Blackarrow and Izzy will get ready at the right edge of the roof.
Once they get back with the bodies, they'll drop them down to the bottom, trying to hit the webs near some of the spiders down there. BA and Izzy will try and climb the walls around the open area over to the balcony. If that swarm is actually on the balcony, we should try and draw it off, so the ranged casters can hit it without setting the Captain on fire, and then we move in and try to cut the Captain free.
What do we need to do to make this happen?

Oloric and Paelius make stealth checks (DC11) to not be noticed before the three get there.
Fargrim, Malik, and Hraken make athletic checks for how well they toss the goblins (DC5).
BA and Izzy make athletic (DC8) and stealth (DC11 but have advantage if the rest goes well) checks to drop down to the balcony without drawing attention.
Then roll INI just in case the spiders strike back.

Oloric and Paelius sneak to the edge of the spider's lair. Fargrim, Malik, and Hraken each tuck a goblin corpse under each arm. They wait for Izzy and BA to ready lines to drop to the balconies below. Six goblin bodies drop to the floor 30 feet below a couple catching in the webbing. The others land with a sick crack of bones. Spider large and small converge on the bodies. The swarms and smaller spiders crawl toward the food only one of the giant spiders think enough to begin to crawl up the wall looking for where the food came from. BA and Izzy slide down to the balcony. The swarm of small spiders still crawls over him. They can see his eyes are bulging and vacant his skin pale in a small opening in the webbing that encases him. He eyelash flickers slightly giving BA hope. The spider lord still sit in the center of his web. You see that the Captain's cocoon is connected to the spider lord's web. Initiative Order so far- Spider giant 22 , Izzy 20, Hraken 20, Spider Lord 19, Fargrim 17, Oloric 12, Malik 11, Spider Swarms 6, Paelius 5

Izzy whispers to Blackarrow, "I'll draw the swarm off so the casters can get to it, you start cutting him free, once they're clear. Watch out for the big one." He stabs gingerly at the swarm [Attack roll total: 6; eep], trying to avoid the captain, and moves back along the wall.
[After the Spider Lord acts] Fargrim restrains himself from shouting, and mutters "The light of the gods upon you!" and lights the swarm up with Sacred Flame, it'll have to make a DC 13 Dex save to avoid 5 radiant damage.

Blackarrow nods and draws his dagger. Once Izzy makes his move and the swarm clears off, he'll apply a few quick cuts to free the captain from the main web and attempt to grab-and-dash, counting on the spider's sticky webbing to adhere the captain to his own body and keep his hands free for the inevitable rope climbing.
Athletics: 10 Stealth: 21/21. Consistency! Init: 20.
I'm assuming I'll need an attack and an Athletics to cut and grab, so here's that set.
Attack: 17. Athletics: 16.

The giant spiders begin to prepare the goblin corpses to be food. Only one is investigating and makes it 20ft across the floor and 10ft up the wall.
Izzy waves his blade over the swarm and the group swarms toward him as he backs away he notices the group is faster than he thought. some of the spider begin to crawl at his boots. If he does not get away they will swarm him in the next round.
BlackArrow cuts the cocoon free from the main web and sticking it to his chest turns and grabs the rope. (climb with another body Athletics 15 but a rope gives you advantage) It is only a 5 foot climb to the roof.
Hraken moves to intercept the climbing spider when he reaches the edge.
The spider lord turns to Izzy backing away from the swarm and spews a thick cone of webbing at the thief (attack roll 26 and Izzy is restrained DC14 athletics check to break free). Izzy is covered with webbing and pinned to the balcony edge.

Fargrim, Oloric, Paelius, and Malik are along the south edge of the roof.

Eep. [Athletics roll total: 14. Whew. Aaaaand Bonus Cunning Action: Skedaddle! aka Dash]
Izzy yells "Hey, quit it, y'big jerk!" and just barely wriggles free of the webbing. Taking quick stock of his imminent doom, he scrambles over the edge of the balcony and along the wall as far as he can get.
[On Fargrim's action] Fargrim mutters "Oooh, y'wee bastards! Eat divine justice!" and chants another Sacred Flame at the swarm that's advancing on Izzy. [DC 13 Dex save to avoid 1 (count 'em! 1!) radiant damage. I guess the swarm wasn't hungry for divine justice.]
