Thyte looks down at his dtapad, you can see hyperspace calculations running on the screen. "Astrogation has calculated that the gas giants are still pulling each other apart with the disturbance Sarne has found a way to create. There will be another wave of matter ripped from both leaving just the cores in a small nebula of gasses."
Bif Zik looks up from his quiet post in the back of the lounge,"That would leave whatever device Sarne is implanting in the gas giants accessible. It is possible after the second wave you could find the source of the hyperspace storms."

OOC: The first paragraph's a summary of the Mission One thread and the Brunou journal, so anyone who participated in it and read the journal can skip that part.
Stev stands up a bit slowly, visibly nursing his side as he says "Captain, I'll keep my report brief in the interest of time: Aariss III is a danger to anything and anyone who enters it. The mind effects you described affecting the crew were present there as well, and while we did not observe any dimension-altering effects, the planet uses the dirt of its surface to create constructs vaguely resembling Mandalorians and Kalvessians that seem to think they are continuing a conflict from thousands of years ago. I don't know if they really are souls trapped by the artifact, or just the surface thoughts absorbed, but either way, they've likely been fighting the same battle for millennia. Dr. Sola gave me Dr. Brunou's journal right before the meeting, and I uploaded it to our library for any who wish to see more, but the key new piece of intel is that there's an underground chamber that formerly housed the artifacts as well as an ancient city of their origin."
"Normally, I'd advise against taking such risks unless a galactic-scale threat was presented. However, in my personal opinion, this technology, if weaponized, could be powerful enough to make the Death Star look like a poorly made holdout blaster. Our ship was charged with discovering the origin and nature of the Darkstryder technology, and the Place of Kastays likely holds the answer to that question. I believe we need to send a force to discover why the artifact does what it does, and if we can't control it, we have to neutralize it. I agree with the Sergeant's idea of a small team, and I would recommend a team made up only of those proven capable of resisting the artifact's effects, whether they were influenced and resisted, or they were never targeted at all. A strong droid presence would likely be invaluable as well, since the artifact seems to only affect organics."
"If we go back, we'll need to go back quickly if Thyte's readings indicate another EMP pulse. Although, if we can make it into the underground chamber mentioned in Brunou's journal before the wave hits, it could protect anyone underneath from the pulse, so we'd only need to bring something to quickly restart the Aegis afterwards."
"I like the Sergeant's idea to recruit aid, but we'll have to do it quickly to have time to take cover from the pulse. While we have the ship's sensors at our disposal, I'd recommend searching for signs of their base, if they have one."

As Stev concludes, Sivu quickly rises and states in his usual cold demeanor "Captain, with all due respect, the Ensign's idea of captured souls is merely wild speculation. At best, the warriors on the planet are similar to droids programmed to believe themselves to be living, and at worst they are simply holovids given physical form, and are just as incapable of true thought as any holovid would be. While I am as eager as any researcher would be at the prospect to learn more of this powerful technology, doing so with such haste is foolhardy. We were barely capable of surviving our prior experience, and since both the ship's tablet and the one in our possession were somehow capable of returning to this Place of Kastays, the danger posed to us is likely double what it was before."
"My suggestion is to first avoid the effects of this upcoming wave, then to safely study the device causing the storms. After that, we can observe the effects of the artifacts, determine their nature, and then form a plan based on more than supposition."
Stev, whose angry gaze indicates that he has just barely been holding his tongue, finally says "And what of the people trapped on Aariss? What of Ned'Ix, and what of the restless dead who have been forced to war for millennia? With my plan, we can save them and learn of these artifacts."
Sivu simply replies "With your plan, we can die, and will not save anyone. However-" Sivu turns back to the Captain "this is my official assessment. I will follow the will of the Captain and crew."
Stev adds, with a frustrated sigh "As will I."
During the course of this discussion, Lodor quietly moves to another spot in the lounge. He really doesn't want to be stuck between those two for the rest of this meeting.

((OOC: Stalling because I have some interested friends and they're making Mandos as far as I know.))
Lydia removed her helmet and tucked it between her torso and left elbow, turning to face Stev and Sivu with her good eye as she watched Lodor relocate because that whole thing got awkwaaaaaaaaaaard for everyone involved. Her stare was deadpan, durasteel face framing with a lone plate reminiscent of an eyepatch over the ruined eye before she turned her head to the Captain. "While Aaris III has my sympathies we're on a time-sensitive assignment." Her accent was pure Eriadu. "Multitasking is out of the question if the gentleman beside the Ensign is to be believed. Can we not simply come back to it later?" She asked, leaving her right hand behind her back.

Lokhar the finder looks up, "If Ned'Ix is here that means that Veild-Danol and his Danol Trade Syndicate knows about the finding on the planet. Which means House Twa'Legra and Yukor' Dak Discuna knows. The message was sent out in a broad transmission which means Sarne or his forces have received the message asking for aid. If Ned'Ix finds a way to recharge his ship he has access to everything. If another force returns before us they can beat us."
Gorak adds,"There is also the Imperial Supply Depot. That baby is probably a hoard of weapons and supplies. They say Sarne dropped these secret depots throughout the sector for emergencies."
The door slides open and a pale Lt Jessa Dejas walks in slowly. Thanis rises to help her but she waves him off. "I'm okay. Captain I felt the power of the Darkstryder. The spider spirits of the ancient darkstryder race are crawling over the surface of the planet. They must stay in darkness, the light burns their spirit. They created the mandos and klavassians like puppets of clay and reenact the psychic memories of the battle. They crave the plaques for some reason. It is a place of great evil. They must follow the light though. If the crew does not travel on the night side of the planet they would be safe from the creatures."
"We have New Republic forces at Oon Tien that could be here in 2 days. If we call them they should beat all but Ned'Ix who is powerless on the planet." Thyte adds. "The gas giants and being able to have an example of the technology would be invaluable to solving the hyperspace disruptions. I'm getting real tired of hyperspace problems."

OOC: You have 4 things you can take on as missions only one you must do.
1) Travel to Gandel Ott and assure Shador regains power. FarStar must do this. Your diplomatic team (Thane, Alta, Allistar) and your fighter squad (Ranna's squad) are already in route to Gandel Ott. 2) Go to Place of Kystays- Ned'Ix is here, the Pit Droids are here, the plaques are here, the ancient city is here. 3) Go to Imperial Supply Depot- Treasure, loot, weapons, treasure would need to wait for daytime or possibly fight constructs. 4) recover Sarne's devices from the destroyed gas giants- In 32 hours the gas giants will tear each other apart leaving the cores, gasses, and the ability to recover whatever Sarne has been dropping into the giants to disrupt hyperspace. Known as Project Storm Giant.
You have the FarStar, the Aegis (if you remove the vehicles it has good cargo space), the Muvon (the medical center has been removed an it's cargo bays are empty). The fighters can not carry much but you do have 4 working X-wings and 6 defenders.
Crew that have resisted the effects
Vandal(field ops NCO), Amura (security), Stev (Field Ops CO), Gorak (Security chief), Scourne (Security NCO), Gammer (Gammer), Lodor (weapons ops), Krudar (weapons ops), Edly (weapons ops), Jittone (weapons ops), Sasha (Field Ops scout), Pd13 (Pilot/ lover/ gambler/ leader), Sivu (Engineer), Sigurd (field Medic), Slyer (Far Star First Officer), Loh'Khar (logistics), Ciro (Flight Ops CO), Carne (X-Wing fighter), Theta (Trooper NCO)
You can do 1 mission or all 4 missions.

Lydia's HUD began to display what few notes she was able to gather. "We're going to need supplies, sacking the Imperial supply depot will go a long way until the Republic establishes a supply line. We can assault it with a strike team while we get fire support from the Aegis. From there we can either force a surrender or rout them entirely. At any rate, we'd likely cripple any attempts at retaliation." She noted. "And I'm already aware of the status on those kids. We can probably find a geological compressor within that cache, since they can be used for the creation of both artificial blaster lenses as well as synthetic lightsaber crystals if they choose to go that route. If we can secure something like that and some carbon rich deposits, I can probably operate it--I can't tell you how often I've broken that stupid E-11 piece of trash I was issued." She snickered.
"We can take care of that and run a recovery operation at the last AO concurrently, and the Muvon would be ideal for just that given its size and cargo capacity--it'll get some of our science-types something to look at. Meanwhile the FarStar can recover those devices from the gas giants and even do a bit of gas extraction while we're there, which we can either trade or use... this is of course, assuming that we're alright with the prospect of going all-in with this window."

OOC: That is the most accurate assessment of the genre I've ever seen. Also, I'll see if I can help with the delay to give others the time to roll up some characters. Always happy to add to the crew!
Stev nods in agreement at Vandal's idea. "I like the way you think. The more we can do with less resources, the better. However, we'll probably want to table moving on the Supply Depot until either it's lit by sunlight or we shut down the cause of the constructs. Also...I can't help but feel that Ned'Ix's safety is our responsibility as members of the New Republic Military. I'd like to scan the planet for him and see if we can add him to our ranks for this mission. Since he knew of this planet's location and was aware of the Place of Kastays, keeping him safe could also yield useful intel. If he's still sane at this point, he could prove invaluable."

Kaiya looks at the group. "So we agree the risk is worth the reward. You have 32 hours then need to microjump out of system and then jump back into system at what will be the cloud of Aariss."
Thyte adds,"They have 7 hours of light at the ruins left then the Supply Depot will be day as the ruins are in night. The team will have 9 hours of light at the supply depot. Then it is just waiting for the gas giants to destroy each other and collect the technology that is causing the storm giants."
"Sounds easy when you say it. Field Ops will return without the clone troopers. Theta I am putting in charge of security for the Gandel Ott mission." Kaiya states.
"Wait I am chief of security," Gorak protests.
"You also where not effected by the artifact. Which means you are going to Aaris III with field ops. You also have a prior relationship with Ned'ix that may be of use. You will take the Muvon, PD13 for his connection to the pit droids, Brophar as pilot, Vandal will be field NCO, Sivu for science and tech, Boom if it's a trap, Sigurd the field medic, Amura for security, Sasha for scouting, and Gammer for everything. Stev will be in charge of the team and Gorak you will be an advisor to him."
"What about the charges against me, against you." Gorak accuses.
"We will face our charges when the New Republic forces arrive on Gandel Ott. I have informed command and they will have a military tribunal waiting for us. Stev, Gorak will arrive on Gandel Ott to face trial." Kaiya looks to Stev with a hard look in her eyes.
"Any questions?" Kaiya asks.

Stev replies to the Captain "Don't worry, I'm sure we'll stick close together like the best of friends." and grabs Gorak's shoulder in a friendly manner, knowing full well how much the Rodian dislikes his personal space being invaded. He'll then pull it back in expectation of the Rodian's reflexive recoil, knowing that his message has been sent.
Stev will then wait for the rest of the crew to head out so that he can give the Captain the full debriefing without delaying everyone else's preparations. Then, before he starts grabbing gear, he'll head to the Med Bay to finally treat that Critical Injury he's been nursing for a couple hours now, as well as to refill his medical backpack's supply of bacta. Stev trusts Dr. Perriga to keep quiet about his injuries, so he'll request that the Doctor quickly patch him up in private.
Medicine: 4P vs 3D. Net result 4 successes, so the injury's gone.

Amura is not looking forwards to another foray into the unknown against mind powers but he does feel little better with a few grenades, stimpacks and a thermal detonator. He does make sure to pick up a stun club in case the team gets a case of the crazy again. He visits Rorn and asks about any new leads on the other ship captain of Cathian female type.
Krudar goes about his routine in gunnery, there are still fluctuations for power and he thinks he has had better success with the new battery banks but until the strain of combat hits the system he does not believe it.
Sigurd readies his medical kit, weapons and after some prodding from Stev he takes a globby grenade. He goes over the basic first aid with the kids and is taken aback by how well they know pressure points and nerve structure. He tells them he will look at the self paced study when he returns, they counter only if he promises to show them how to throw an ax.

Amura visits his mate in the medical bay. She is recovering from void exposure floating in bacta tank. Her limbs and what he can see of her face look bloated. "She was lucky to not have evidence of sever ebullism. We are treating the hypocapnia and decompression but she should recover fully." Dr. Perriga explains. Kerri Rorn is sitting next to her watching her kinsman. She greets her future with a bow and exposing of her neck as is tradition.
Krudar jumps with the FarStar to Gandel Ott. They finish the new battery system along the way and the main turbolasers now have double the rate of fire of before. (Krudar will be at Episode 4: Death is Remotely Possible).
Sigurd finishes the quick lessons with the young crewmembers and then readies his bags. The medical bay is still crowded, but it is crewmembers with void exposure and physical injuries not the massive number of mental injuries on record. Looking over the medical roster he sees Dr. Ankhanseh is recovering from a surgical procedure performed by the medical droids. Nurse Galflysi Haf Vil sees her kinsman and rushes forward. The former princess stops short of embracing but looks at him with relief,"This has been quite a change. I've seen just about everything and more than I can believe. I'm just relieved to see you are safe." She looks around the medical bay,"It also feels so good to be of use, to do something good."
Amura and Sigurd are returning the Aaris III.
