The lands west of the Stonehome Mountains have always been a breeding ground for orcs, goblins, and other fell creatures. From to to time warlords have gathered small armies and tested the defenses of the single pass crossing the mountains into the Elsir Vale. The defenses are the ancient dwarven stronghold named Bordin's Watch. Many orcs have left its walls blackened with the blood, but none have ever breached the dwarven hold.
Now something is different. The orcs are coming in multiples of the forces they have attacked with a coordination never seen in dwarven memory. The Dwarves of Overlook have put out work that they are looking for mercenary and adventuring parties to defend Bordin's Watch. The wealth of Overlook is drawing defenders from every corner of Klarn.
Brindol is just a stop off on the way to Overlook. A last bit of civilization before braving the mountains. Entering the city you find they are in the midst of a festival marking ten years of peace in the Vale. The festival honors the warriors who defeated the Red hand of Doom a decade ago. A victory so decisive that orc, goblins, and kobold have barely mounted caravan raids since the final Battle of Brindol.
Walking the crowded streets you see dancing and music in the Brindol Marketplace (5). The Hall of Great Valor is open and citizens are filling through to see artifacts of the Battle of Brindol (16). Others who enjoy a quieter time spend the afternoon hours in the Chatrenn and Sons Inn (2). All try to enjoy the event even though the summer sun is baking the ground and buildings of Brindol.
