Mission Logs Recovered
Mission Objectives: Provide a investigation and excavation of the Ruins of Aariss. Determine the nature of the civilization with emphasis on discovering the source of their sudden destruction. Find evidence on the technology used to create the Kalvassian race. Find connections between the ruins of Aariss the Gree race, Ang Ti race, or Darkstryder technology. Evaluate suitability of the planet as a possible Imperial post.
(42:10:11) The IST MS-133 arrives at Aaris III. They set up a satellite uplink and land the Curich-class Shuttle assigned to the mission without incident. Some native lifeforms are seen but they do not engaged the research team.
(43:3:31) IST MS-133 reports discovering an entrance into previously undiscovered ruins.
(43:3:34) IST MS-133 shuttle returns with images of pictographs located within new ruins. It also carries a ingot of unknown metal removed from what the science team refers to as the Gate of Kastays. They also send a dozen crystals found in the ruins of Kastays. The team hopes our advanced facilities on Kolatill will be able to gather more information about the artifacts.
(43:3:34) IST MS-133 The teams reports observation of another species on Aariss III. The species is aggressive and has engaged the security in combat. The groups of natives have been small and easily driven off. A separate home base has been created at the Ruins of Kastays to provide security at the site. (OC 43:04:05 is the first day of the DarkStryder Mission)
(43:4:05) IST MS-133 reports that they belive the pictograph are a dating system. These facilities are have no success finding the properties of the artifacts. The stress of searching for answers has been difficult for the team. Some members of the team have been dismissed after physical confrontations broke out in the facility.
(43:4:06) Using translation guides from the away team we have translated the pictographs on the ingot as being named the "Plaque of Victory". The away team suggest returning the plaque to Aariss III. The away team reports that native attacks have increased in number at both sites.
(OC 43:04:07 is the day Domaz revolts against the Empire on Kolatill.)
(43:04:07) The shuttle has been damaged by the natives and the Lt Derren Jed has been killed. Dr. Brunou requests additional security be sent to the planet immediately. With the current political uprising this will be impossible.
Reports after this one are automatic arrives with no one receiving or acting on them.
(43:04:08) Away team reports Grigor Tansad is missing. Dr. Theda has been wounded. Multiple troopers are wounded or dead. Dr. Brunou has ordered the team to regroup and wait out the arrival of the new security team.
(43:04:09)IST MS-133 is sending a repeating automatic signal on imperial channels. The Imperial Distress Call is from Dr. Brunou.
"Emergency. Emergency. This is Imperial science team MS-133 on Aaris III. We are under siege. Please, anybody respond. The enemy has destroyed our shuttle, and we have no way of leaving. Our groups is down to six personnel, with unknown forces picking us off one by one. Mayday! Can anyone hear us."

Artifacts of Aariss
Ingot called the "Plaque of Victory"
A triangular metal ingot with Kastay pictograph describing it as the Plaque of Victory. The tests on the plaque have gather next to no information.
Darkstryder crystals. All test have shown them to be inert crystals. The team has been unable to find any evidence of them being more than just decoration.
(OC Anyone with an idea to test or try to find information about the Plaque of crystals may post here.)

Sigurd's Medical findings
Extended examination of the bodies in the building show that a few of the victims had been in a confrontation before the arrival of the stormtrooper unit. There is evidence of blunt traumas and 3 were killed by blows to the head by a metal pipe.
Boom's demolition findings
Boom find the bomb and it is not imperial make. The bomb was a impromptu device made from research equipment. The device was set before the Stormtroopers entered the building.

Sivu looks at all of the gathered information and begins to draw conclusions as he mutters to himself.
"Darkstryder Force-based power source, may require Force User to activate. Will have to test with control subject Que when he is released from medical bay. Plaque also found with crystals, likely also Force-related."
"Aggressive action on part of natives and crew only occur after items recovered. Related to Force, so either could be causing increased feelings of aggression if tied to 'Dark Side'. Previous encounters with crystals do not suggest this, so likely Plaque is source of aggression. Tampering with it is dangerous. If researched, will first need to commit translation guides to memory."
"Medical and demolition data suggest researchers inside were combatting troopers and killed themselves with the explosive, perhaps to cover up or destroy the safe's contents. Risk level of investigation is high."
"This team is a valuable asset, and Dr. Brunou was trusted by Sarne. Likely knows his whereabouts, as well as extensive information on Darkstryder. He MUST be recovered safely. Will bring it up with Captain."
On that note, Sivu heads out to speak with Captain Kaiya to give her the information along with his interpretation of the data and to recommend immediately heading to Aariss III to rescue and interrogate the research team.

Sivu moves through the officer's lounge to the Captain's office aboard the FarStar. Tapping her doorpad the door quickly slide open. Sivu sees the Captain sitting on the couch in the room flimsi's scattered over the coffee table. He sees she has used a red markup pen to write notes over the images and reports. Kaiya leans back from the papers and looks to Sivu. "Lt Sivu I'm betting I know where your interest lay."
Kaiya awaits Sivu's response.

Sivu clasps his hands behind his back and stands at attention. "Captain, I see you are well versed on the information we discovered, so I will merely state my own conclusions."
"One, the Plaque of Victory is clearly related to the Darkstryder crystals, and may even share an origin, so their investigation is of great importance. However, there is a link between the Plaque and aggressive action on the part of those researching it, so there is a risk, and any researchers must be supervised in order to keep them from harming other members of the crew."
"Two, considering Dr. Brunou's years of service to Sarne and Sarne entrusting him with the Empire's most valuable secret project, he is the best chance we have at rescuing Captain Ciro. Furthermore, he and the rest of the team are also our link to knowing all that the Empire knows about the Darkstryder crystals, which would finally place us evenly with them."
"My recommendation would be that we immediately depart for the Aariss III research station and rescue any survivors. Then, we must recruit any researchers that can be turned to our cause, and imprison and interrogate the rest."

"You have come to the same conclusions I have. The problem is the FarStar is receiving upgraded power cells for the gunnery bay and eve double cells for the turbolasers. We have negotiations to make and some clean up actions. Then we are going to investigate the gas giant in system. By the time we are ready to leave for Aariss III Sarne could already have arrived. Our other choice is to send either the Aegis, the Muvon, or both. Either way we can only send a couple of X-Wings to escort. SO what do you think Sivu is the reward worth risking a group on the Aegis, Muvon, or go all in with both ships?"

"If we delay rescue, there will be nothing left to find. The researchers will all be dead, and we will never be able to find Sarne. Pursuit is not a risk, but a necessity."
"Our required transport will depend on how large a team we send, since the Muvon has a very limited passenger capacity, and determining the team is where our greatest difficulty lies. If the Plaque and associated artifacts encourage Dark Side associated activity in lifeforms, we cannot risk the crew turning against itself. I recommend that the Aariss III mission be crewed only by those who volunteer for the mission and are deemed mentally stable enough to partake in the expedition. Unfortunately, based on my impressions of the crew, that would eliminate a substantial portion of possible crewmen, but the risks of potential violent crew interactions far outweigh the benefits of additional hands."

"I agree we need a stable unit for this mission. That is why I have contacted Commander Theta and he has offered his unit to be a part of the mission. Approaching the science team with a group of troopers will be just what they expect and may calm the situations. Clone Troopers are born and programmed to be stable. We will be adding Lt Dejas to the team as well. She will be a known contact for the research team as well. I want you their for your expertise on the subject and our away team to back you up. ' She hands Sivu a flimsi with a mission roster. Commander Noel Ciro X-Wing escort Lt Carne Lopak X-Wing escort Ensign Stev Mission Commander Ensign Sivu Mission Specialist Boom Gammer Sgt Sasha Sgt Analia Private Makio Dr. Sigurd Samarion Amura PD-13 Aegis Pilot Commander Theta 10 Clone Troopers Lt Jessa Dejas- Advisor Do you see a need for changes or do I bring this group in for the mission briefing?"

Sivu shakes his head. "There are a number of possible complications, but that is unavoidable given the overall status of the crew. I would recommend extra attention be paid to Lt Lopak, but otherwise things will go as smoothly as possible given the circumstances."

"The Captain always said you need to work with the hand you are dealt. This is our play to make." Kaiya dismisses Sivu.
