I remember going to lake geneva for the game convention that later became gencon. They had a minitures battle on a huge table that was 5 feet off the ground to see everything at eye level. Quite awesome

I had never been to a convention until I brought my son to GenCon. When Gary drop up right behind in his cart I squealed like a little girl, told him how special his creation is and how it helps develop intelligence, creativity, and problem solving in young players. I'm sure he heard that a million times. Then when he left I explained to my son who Gary Gygax was.

Been to a few cons with my oldest son, wish I could get to GenCon. I hope he remembers when we saw the author RA Salvatore at a book signing then again at the local sports fields a few days later, and no we did not get an autograph we were picking up a magazine for my wife. His favorite is meeting Matt Bush (artist who made the "how to draw Star Wars") couple years ago at San Diego Comic con, he sat and drew with my son for at least an hour before setting up his booth and gave him a unreleased DVD of more how to draw.
The impact Gygax had on my circle of friends as a teen can not be understated, a legend. Congratulations on getting to meet him.

I have that book in my classroom. It is one of the books that is bent, wrinkled a little, with random pencil marks through it. That is the condition of books the student love.
You would think with the comic book collection I have and having even drawn a few small press comics I would have been to a comic convention, but I've never made it to one. My nephews go to the comic conventions in Chicago and they always come back happy but broke.

Been doing comics all night, oldest (10) got to celebrate Batman's 75th in three different stores after Cub Scout camp today. Took a Batman test and scored perfect 12 for 12, Comic book store had a winner and he got a free T-shirt. One very happy little man (and one dad about a $100 richer or poorer depending on view) as he named off the top of his head what books/media he wanted and I bought them gladly. Been watching new DVD in which Adam West voices the mayor in a animated series. Two happy boys and yes my youngest went as Robin, but the teen titans version as he told his brother he was not a sidekick, very funny.

Holy Batcrap! My son has corrected me it was national Batman day, which was part of the 75th celebration. He has also informed me if anyone has questions he can help if they are about Batman, now if I could only get him to do his schoolwork like that.

As long as your son is not the Jason Todd or Damian Wayne Robin it is good. Dick Grayson in whatever form (Burt Ward, Superfriends, Nightwing, Teen Titans, Young Justice) is the man. Grayson is my oldest son's second favorite superhero behind Superman.
My favorite Batman memory is being at the midnight showing of the Tim Burton Batman when it was released. People came dressed as Joker and Batman and where running around the place just crazy like. It was a great time like Rocky Horror Picture Show but with Batman.
