On the short flight back to the Riverside Park Alta sits staring at his bloodied hands. It was not like in his movies. He had never killed before. He had never seen the life leave the eyes of someone and know he caused it. He feels sick, sore, nervous, and numb all at once.
Stepping off the ramp he can a split in the people. Most of the crowd is coming up to him with the same eyes of adoration, but their is a group with datapads in hands looking at him with a smirk. He takes a pad roughly from one of their hands and sees that the INN is still transmitting in the region. They are showing a clipped version of events that makes it looks like he fell to the thugs. It makes him look clumsy and buffoonish. Keeping the datapad and rushing back up the ramp he finds Jessa and Kaiya,"This can not be allowed to stand. I killed to protect what was mine. To protect you. I am the hero not the joke they are presenting."
"The only way to prove that would be to get the original raw footage of the ambush," Jessa declares after some thought. "We would need the holodroids or access to their network."
Loh'Khar steps into the Aegis."We need that footage for more than your pride friend Dyson. I have been looking up some old friends and have a deal that could assist us. If we have the votes of House Ik'Tal, Brakia, and Shador the House Kathor will agree to vote for the new Republic. All they require in return is a licensing agreement for the Heroes of the FarStar merchandising in the sector. Stev, Alta, Fang, and PD13 have become Holonet sensations and the House Kathor sees many profitable ventures using our celebrities. It would cost us nothing but would help make the vote for the alliance to be close to unanimous.
The deal will fall through if the current reports on the Imperial News Network are allowed to stand. They have other reports showing Stev killing innocent mental health patients and our SRV cutting down zoo animals with laser cannons. If we can not find a way to fight them in the court of public opinion we may win every battle but lose the war."

It is a little over an hour to walk to the Park. Stev and Biv stride in proudly with a trail of rescued civilians behind you. They can not help smiling when they see family members see each other and run to embrace. What was days of darkness just became a little brighter. You notice that civilians in blast helmets and vests carrying new republic blasters now patrol with power armored clone troopers. The Church of the Prophet, feeling the area is secure, has left the Brakia Holdings and joined the relief efforts. You are feeling good about your progress until you see the media reports on the Imperial News Network that is still reporting from mining outposts in the northern mountains but somehow have footage from the city itself.
Commander Theta comes up and clasps Stev's shoulder then punches his other shoulder. It is the soldiers sign of congratulations. Stev passes the slavers into his custody and tells him the deal to allow the Trans to help hunt down the zoo animals. "Your XO is on the Aegis with the diplomats. They are less than happy about the media reports of their encounters. For some reason people don't understand that the purpose of a soldier in a war is to break things and kill people until the other side gives up. Their are "experts" who have never held a blaster talking about how the New Republic Soldiers need to be kinder and gentler to the enemy."
You unit is order by Scourne to get their bite wounds and such looked at Raso before they catch whatever crazy that group had. Stev thinks about explaining that mental illness is not contagious but decide to let it go.

Gammer and Sasha ride in a quarter hour after Stev and his unit. He has a group of citizens that actually look even more haggard than the first group from the slavers. As they dismount and Gammer begins to move to the Aegis a woman runs from the crowd of refugees at the park. She pushes Gammer and pounds futilely at his armored chest plate,"You killed my son. You dropped a building on my little boy." She spits at his face and is pulled away by another woman who spits at him also.
"You killed my boy too. He just liked to ride. He was just a little rambunctious. He would never hurt anyone. You are worse than the Empire. They never killed our boys."
Gammer stands listening quietly then walks on wiping his face with his sleeve and searching for his flask.
Sasha follows her eyes downcast. She wants to explain you boys were torturing all of these people, but knows they will not anything in their grief.

Stev replies "Commander, any day before today I would agree with you, but after the swift change of allegiance these thugs had...I'm starting to wonder if I've been going at this the wrong way the whole time." Stev frowns, and a rare expression of doubt and uncertainty crosses his face. He recovers, and continues.
"It seems that the INN has been busy trying to turn all of our good into evil. Perhaps I can see if I can help change that. I will see you again soon Theta, and hopefully next time the news will be heralding our return with triumphant fanfare instead of undercutting remarks and manipulative footage."
Stev reports to the Aegis for debriefing and to assist in the plans to deal with the INN. If he gets the opportunity, he would like to have a private discussion with Commander Adrimetrum. He will explain that it is of great importance, but will not go into detail with anyone but the Commander.

Kaiya looks to him. "Let's finish our meeting and see create our deployments."
She pulls the holograph in the front of the unit bay. It displays the crew members on planet, equipment, contacts, and mission outlines. She, Thane, Alta, Jessa, Lt. Slyer, and Theta have already started pulling components to their mission assignments.
Alta is protesting,"I am more than a voice and a pretty face," Right now his face is swollen, blackened, with crusty blood he has not taken the time to clean off, "I want on the rescue team."
Thane is sitting his ribs wrapped and looks cleaner but even worse for wear than Alta,"We need to get all of the networks cameras here to find a way to tap into the INN camdroids. You are the best draw."
'What about the pretty jumping bean?" He waves a hand at Stev,"People love a new face. Look what happen when that Skywalker kid came on the scene. He became the new face of the rebellion overnight and I ended up out here getting mugged by thugs."

OOC: For Domaz, don't forget the 8 combat trained former slavers! Hopefully Theta can get them in soldier shape quickly.
Stev thinks about his plan. "Well, I wouldn't be surprised if Loh'Khar already inexplicably obtained one, but barring that, could we somehow create an event that would draw a big enough crowd that the cameras would be sure to follow? I know this sounds mad, but what if Alta were to hold some sort of fundraising holo to transmit across the galaxy in support of rebuilding Domaz? That would boost our PR while simultaneously pulling in the INN's droids, and it would also, of course, actually aid the city. However, if we do any sort of public event we will have to take into account the many security risks that could pop up, especially the disappearing snipers. Still, it may be worth the risk in order to simultaneously help ourselves and the people of Domaz. We'd just need to find a way to talk the INN into broadcasting it, or potentially even ask another station to get them jealous enough to beg us for it."
"We can play clips from the Dayson vids during breaks, which would give us time to deal with any potential problem situations that could arise. However, we also should be prepared for revolving shifts, since at some points we will likely need to hold interludes showcasing the talents of the New Republic, or something of a similar nature."
"If we try this, there are two ways to approach it: we could hold the event on a traditional stage, but with an increased security risk, or we could hold it on one of the ships. It would be less sensational and likely raise less money, but it would be much more secure. However, time is definitely a factor for this plan, so we would need to act swiftly."
"If anyone has another plan though, please feel free to pitch it. This one has the potential to do a great deal of good, but it could get very problematic very fast."
As Stev finishes his suggestion, he thinks to himself "I cannot believe that a charity holo just became a potential espionage plan, but I suppose it's cleaner than assaulting the news station and taking the footage by force would be... although that would be a good way to end our bad press..." He puts that idea in the back of his head in case all the other plans don't work out. |

Kaiya gives you an "are you serious look" but Loh'Khar's eyes light up.
"I could get support from Kathor Media Network if we let them collect the donation and get their cut. We could probably get Hydia Jomwell (Twi'Lek dancer and singer) to perform. Brother K’Brakk Jil’Drath could speak for the church about charity and giving. Maybe we have a few entertainers in the crowd. If KMN is covering it INN is sure to want in if only to slant the events in a negative light. We could also invite all of the council leaders to speak." He clasps Stev on both shoulders,'This could work."
Theta protests,"He is right that it would be a security nightmare, but it could really lift up the people of Riverside Park and show the rest of the planet we stand strong."
Lt Slyer uncrosses his arms,"This plan makes me glad I'm leading one of the suicide missions. It could work though."

"Loh'Khar, where could the event be held? Are there any relatively enclosed spaces that are suitable for this event on the planet? The greater the ratio of number of people who could see it versus the number of people who could shoot at it, the better."

"We could place a shield generator around the stage at the park if we could get power back online in the city or power from one of the ships. I believe I could negotiate for the use of one. That would mean an attack would to get inside the radius of the shield." Loh'Khar begins running exchange rates through his head on the trade needed.
"Your crewmen made a detector for stormtrooper laminate that would show any trying to get in the shield." Theta adds.

"The only question is, do we let the crowd into the shield in order to protect them from an ambush, or do we keep them outside of the shield in case of any spies or assassins? Admittedly, I'd like to keep them in, but we're already taking enough security risks. Thane, what kind of public response do you predict we would get from each of the options?"

"Well at many concerts and public speaking events a shield is used to protect the performers. It is common practice to just have it extend to the stage and not the crowd. It will be clear with just a slight blue tinge as long as an energy weapon is not used." Alta answers speaking form decades or public speaking engagements.

"The more pressing concern is who stays and who goes and how to split the teams. I don't want to leave Gorak out of the planning but his team is late." Kaiya looks at those present. "Lt Slyer do you have any for your team. Unda is your security NCO, but you are the final say on who you want. Stev do you have any recommendations for our team?"
OOC: Each team will have 6 or 7 members and will want to have 1 scout, 1 mechanic, 1 medical staff if possible. I forgot to include Gunthar and Qesya. I don't know how I forgot them but I did. Try to spread out players characters so they are not in the same group. So Lodor, Stev, and Sivu should be seperate groups. Gorak and Gunthar should be split.

LT Slyer knew he was young but that was not going to stop him from seizing this chance. The XO had left it open to show his leadership and he would. He calmly spoke up. "XO ma'am, I think we have a good thing going with the holo stars."

Kaiya watches Phillip pull and shifts groups. She stands for minute then shifts a few crewmen that she knows have conflicts with others. She then turns to the officers and NCOs present. "I'm liking how this is shaking out. Each group will arrive at the jump point and join an Ore Transport. When you arrive at the Refinery the crew of the transport will pretend it is business as usual. The covert members of our groups will sneak on board the refinery, locate, and secure VIPs among the slaves." She hands Scourne and Phillip a communicator. The buttons are labeled with names of Shador nobles held by the empire. "Only press the button when you have secured a noble. Once we have all of the VIPs secured the main force will attack and secure the refineries. We expect casualties but the Nobles of Shador can not be among them. We return with the nobles and they are able to vote for the Republic breaking the tie and securing Kolatill does not return to the Empire."
