As Stev walks out to get a bit of morning exercise, he comes upon Tevan. "Stev, I'm really grateful for you helping all of us learn fighting yesterday, and I thought I could pay you back. People say you're not a big fan of tech, but I know you use the important stuff like blasters and speeders, so I thought you might like me to show you around the flight sim. You might even find you like it like I did!"
Stev hesitates for a second. He isn't a fan of starfighters, but he doesn't have the heart to burst Tevan's bubble. "Sure, why not? Let's go now."
As the two of them arrive in the Alpha flight sim, they encounter Thyte in the sim. He appears to think about giving some excuse for his presence, but then he just grunts angrily and stomps out.
Tevan demonstrates how everything works and tries teaching Stev. Stev can't follow some of Tevan's flight jargon, but he figures out the general meaning of the terms and eventually gets good enough to beat Tevan in a couple competitive runs.
Tevan's absolutely wired. "See! I told you you'd be good at it and it'd be fun! You were great!"
Shockingly enough for Stev, he's right. Stev did have fun. "Well, I guess you were right. Perhaps I haven't given starfighters a fair chance."
Suddenly, the ship lights up with an alert. All crew need to assemble immediately.
Stev starts to hurry out of his simulator. "This sounds very important. I have to hurry. Thank you though, perhaps we can work together again sometime."
As Stev runs out, Tevan yells out "Absolutely!" and goes back to the sim. After all, the ship may need all the pilots they can get, so he wants to be ready.
Mechanics: Tevan applies his 1 Piloting to assist Stev. The check will be a normal difficulty flight sim. Tevan: 3 successes and 1 threat. Stev: 3 successes and 2 advantages.

Lodor, Tanner, and the three kids head down to the sim deck and assume positions. Tevan takes the pilot sim, while Tanner sits in the connected gunner sim with Lodor giving him instructions from behind the chair. Jeniaya and Mikal watch from the viewing screens.
Lodor begins to set up the AI challenge for Tanner. "Okay, you'll deal with Tevan in a minute, but first I just want to give you some practice with the computer. You did a great job with those targeting calculations earlier, now you just need to do them while aiming. I'll correct your posture as you're going, I just want you to focus on the targets. I'll interject if I need to." Mechanics: Gunnery Check 2P1A vs 2D. Net result 3 successes 1 threat.
"I got-" Lodor suddenly interrupts Tanner with "You got a solid smack, but he's not down. Even worse, you've thrown off your vectors with your shaky arms. Wait, I've got an idea. Line up another shot."
While Tanner sets up his new shot, Lodor puts Tanner's music pods in and starts playing what he sees is Tanner's most repeated jam. Lodor instantly sees Tanner release his tension and steady his hands. Mechanics: Gunnery Check 2P1A1B vs 2D. Net result 1 triumph 1 success 1 advantage.
The sim fighter explodes into dust as Tanner hits its main power core. Tanner lets out a triumphant "Yeah!" and Lodor adds "Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! I see you've got this AI figured out. I think a real opponent is a bit tougher though..." (continued in next post for ease of reading)

"Tevan, you ready?" "Yep!" "Okay then, time for the real thing. I want to back off a bit to see what you can do without my intervention. Just remember, you can't count on him to act like a computer. Be ready for anything a crazy kid could come up with..." Lodor suddenly realizes Tanner's pods are still going "...yeah, you'll be fine." Mechanics: Gunnery vs Piloting (Space) 1P1A vs 1C1D. Net result 1 advantage, 1 despair.
Tanner lines up a perfect shot as he coordinates the music's beat with Tevan's movement. He sees where Tevan's most likely to fly next, lines up the perfect shot, and- "Tevan, did you just dodge a shot by flipping UPSIDE-DOWN!?" Lodor yells in astonishment. "Um...only a little bit?" "You can't be a little bit upside down! Congrats, that really was a great move, but not the best thing for training, okay?" "Yeah, you're right. Sorry, my instincts took over." "That's fine, just don't-" "GRAND MOFF TARKIIIIIIIIINNNNNNN! JEWEL OF THE DEATH STARRRRR!" "Not now Mikal!"
Lodor sighs. "Sorry, we'll try this again. Tevan'll make sure to stick with maneuvers that wouldn't create enough G-force to kill him this time."
Tanner replies "Are you sure I can do this? If that's what I'm dealing with, I'm not sure I'm ready yet." "You'll do fine. Just get into your gunnery frame of mind, I know you'll get him." Mechanics: Gunnery vs Piloting (Space)1P1A1B vs 1C1D. Net result 1 success.
Tevan jukes, jives, and weaves, but Tanner finally lands a clean shot on Tevan's engine, immobilizing him and ending the sim.
Tevan hops out of the sim and gives a salute to Tanner. "Great job! That pattern was wild, how'd you stagger the shots so well?" "I just followed the beat."
As Tanner climbs out of his seat, Lodor gives him a solid high five. "Nice shot! If you keep that up, you'll be one of the best gunners on ship in no time. Feel free to comm me whenever you want more training, I'll do whatever I can. Chief Krudar already has enough to worry about with officer meetings and keeping the guns online, so if taking over your training gives him a break, I'm glad to do it."
"TARKIIIIINNNNNNN!!!!" "Not again!" Lodor rolls his eyes.
Tanner interjects "Hey, if the kid loves music, he loves it. There's nothing wrong with it, and look at how it helped me." "I'd have no problem with it if he knew more than one verse of any song..."

"The oath of Vader is even better," Mikal jumps on the ready room bench and waves out an arm dramatically he begins to sing in a deep but monotone voice.
There, out in the darkness A fugitive running Fallen from Honor Fallen from grace Emperor be my witness I never shall yield Till we come face to face Till we come face to face
He knows his way in the dark Mine is the way of the LAW Those who follow the path of the emperor Shall have their reward And if they fall As Alderaan fell The flames The sword!
Stars In your multitudes Scarce to be counted Filling the darkness With order and light You are the sentinels Silent and sure Keeping watch in the night Keeping watch in the night
You know your place in the sky You hold your course and your aim And each in your season Returns and returns And is always the same And if you fall as Alderaan fell You fall in flames!
And so it must be For so it is written On the doorway to paradise That those who falter and those who fall Must pay the price!
Emperor let me find him That I may see him Safe behind bars I will never rest Till then, this I swear This I swear by the stars!
"His search for Skywalker was excellent!"
Tanner smiles,"I like the song with the CEO of Cloud City of Bespin. Lando stealing everything from everyone who visits the city is great."
Mikal immedialty switches to a drunken but smooth voice, "Master of the Clouds, Doling out the charm Ready with a handshake And an open palm Tells a saucy tale Makes a little stir getting the princess to let down her curls."
"Enough!" Tevan yells,"You are making me miserable with all of this singing Mikal."
