Before (Stev)
Stev's brow raises in surprise "You'll need to teach me how to speak that one day. The more languages I can speak, the happier I am. We're having a meeting in a few minutes, but I have to talk to our other new ally before then. In the meantime, check to see if the Jarells need attention, and if not, take a break. After the amount of work you've done, you deserve one."

Sivu notes "Curious." as he proceeds to inspect the crystals. Are they Darkstryder, or more like the crystals they found in the cave? Also, are there any signs of how the crystals were embedded, surgical or otherwise?

The scan shows what looks like a combination of initial surgical attachment followed by organic crystal growth. Force crystal do not grow on their own. Only darkstryder crystals exhibit that property.

"Volunteering a replacement? How kind of you." Vandal sneered at Brophar, she was quite clearly joking. At least, she was probably joking. She wouldn't hack off his arm... right? She would, in all honesty, but not over a stupid joke. She looked to Stev, sighing before finally speaking. "You'll need to let the Captain know you need a new XO. Further, until Gorak is either dead or in a brig, we should keep a security team stationed on the Muvon and Ned'Ix's ship at all times."
((And in the future.))
"...I can't remember my name." Invictus sat up, pulling more and more tubes out of himself. He didn't even care enough to check the bleeding. "Or who I'm with. Some blasted--" The pain set in, forcing him to stop, but the cringe was enough to let Stev know something hit him. "Blindsided. They injected me with some drugs... ripped out my implants. Put me in the machines. Where...?" Thirsty. Hungry. "No. No, focus. Where's... where are we?" He paused, then grumbled, taking Stev's hand and standing up. "I had a... name. I had a name..."
He struggled to recall it, but all that was coming was numbers. He remembered images, clad in gleaming black with a visor of crimson and a spear made of burning hate personified. What he was supposed to be. "...When are we? I mean... what year is it?"

Before (Stev)
"Agreed." Stev says, and adds with a grin "Speaking of security, with the Security Chief deposed and the Alpha Commander dispatched, there IS an opening in the upper ranks of Security now. Scourne will be making the final call, since she'll likely be the new chief if we don't find any connection between her and Gorak, but I'd be happy to add in my recommendation for you take command of one of the squads. That is, if you're interested, of course. After our little get-together, I'll see if I can get patched through to the FarStar."
----
After (Stev)
Stev isn't sure at first how to answer. After all, while this seemed like Sarne's work, if year-asking is involved, it could be older. He settles on the Old Republic measurement, stating "It's 25,061 years after the founding of the Republic, by the Galactic Standard Calendar. You're on a freighter called the Muvon in the Aariss system." As Stev speaks, he begins taking off his longcoat and offers it to the nude man "Here, you'll get a chill if you don't put this on. It won't irritate those crystals, will it?"

After (Sivu)
Where others would see a repugnant sight or the place of a tragedy, Sivu merely sees a question waiting to be answered, and gets to work. He captures an image of the crystalline growth for future comparison with the other crystals in the hopes of inevitable categorization. Considering the interaction with organic matter the crystals tend to have, Sivu has little desire to touch the Duros, but cannot help but desire to study it further. He captures another image of the Duros in the pod from various angles to ensure nothing would be missed in later inspections, then leaves the pod.
He finds the nearest PD clone and states "Do you still have your more delicate excavation attachments? I would like to take a few samples of the crystals in the host's body and see if they would grow with or without organic stimulation, but I cannot do so safely on my own. Furthermore, I need it moved so that I can inspect the rest of the pod."

Currently...
((OOC: I cannot WAIT to get the Force Sensitive Emergent path opened so I can get in on this!))
"I'm not concerned with the appointment. It's been a while since I've been shot. Truth be told, I remember why I enlisted." Vandal chuckled. "At any rate, I can't justify milspec hardware getting installed or a decent salary on security payroll... besides, I can't do my right hand duties guarding a ship. Speaking of, do you think since I'll need to get the limb refit I can get a real cybernetic eye? The HUD is useful, but I could make more use of it with peripheral vision." She looked to Hallan. "Is Kobal among us? Do you feel them?" She asked, not entirely big on mysticism but grudgingly accepting it considering the day she was having, she rolled her eye. "Where the hell's Sato?" She inquired with a pause. "She got banged up, actually. I wouldn't be surprised if she hit the rack."
In the future...
If only to not make things weird, Invictus took the coat, not so much as flinching as it brushed over the crystals. "Two years. I need you to drop me off at a port somewhere. I need to track down the Sabiador Slavers and repay what I owe them for this. And if you're here, that means you're tracking Sarne. We could exchange favors--you help me get my justice, and I can help you kill Sarne... once I find my effects." He sighed, looking Stev right in the eyes. "The Imperial Shadow Guard. Are you remotely familiar with them?"

Present/ future Muvon Dr. Sigurd moves to the pod and the new patient,"My name is Dr. Sigurd of House Shador. Please stay still for a moment until I am able to assess your condition." He begins to work a medical scanner over the man. "You have anthropy of your muscles, your lungs have a residue of the fluid you coughed up before, your system has been highly drugged for a period of at least months. We may need to begin a protocol to stop you from suffering from withdrawal symptoms. In your current state withdrawal could easily send you into shock." Dr. Sigurd sets a hypo needle and prepares to administer a medication to Invictus.
Slacker's Dream The PDs remove the body and drill out a few core samples of the crystal. Sivu holds a sample in a sample dish the crystal looks cloudy unlike the clear quality of other darkstryder crystals he has observed.
Past Muvon Stev can send a hyperspace data package to the FarStar.

Before (Stev)
"Trust me, with the creds the NR will get from selling those crystals we found in the caves, combined with whatever bounty they put on any Sabiador leaders, they should be more than generous on medical expenses." Stev decides he's waited a bit too long, and states to the general comm "I'm going to send an update to the FarStar with our findings and happenings, as well as a hefty list of charges against Gorak, and when I get back, we'll hold that meeting I promised in the main room. I want everybody who can stay conscious long enough to be there, and I want anybody who can't to try anyway. This is a priority."
Stev nods to the Jarells, then to Vandal, and says "I'd better get going." and then heads to send the update package to the FarStar.
After (Stev)
Stev has a flash of anger pass his mind as he hears the Slavers mentioned, confirming his suspicions, but attempts to suppress it for the boy's sake. He isn't particularly successful, but at least he's trying.
As he's about to respond, the Doctor cuts in, and right as Sigurd prepares the hypo Stev's hand shoots out in front of him. "Doc, seeing as his problems were likely caused by doctors, you could at least ASK HIM before jabbing something in his arm, even if it's for his sake." As he keeps his arm in place, he turns back and says "If you're hunting Sabiador, you've found the right place. We'll be holding a trial for one we captured once we make it to Gandle Ott. As for the Shadow Guard, I've not heard of them, and the fact that I haven't concerns me. Are they some branch of the Inquisitorius?"

After (Sivu)
Sivu begins reviewing the energy readings compared to those given off by the tablets and other Darkstryder artifacts. He speculates that the cloudy appearance could suggest it has exhausted its power somehow, since otherwise its host would likely still be alive, but since the source and form of the crystals' power is still unknown, he cannot even know if it IS capable of depleting, so he will await data before attempting to draw a conclusion.

"They're an elite detachment of the Red Guard trained in the use of the Force. Not... particularly strong, but more than capable than the adepts and lesser Jedi."
"Unsurprising. Not many have. If I could remember." Invictus stared blankly. "Clad in black sheathe, they are but shadows of the Red Guard, their wills corrupted, stripped and twisted until nothing but hate remained wielding pikes with blades of hate scornful of all matter. A rifle or a heavy blaster are vicious, but they simply kill. It delivers death and nothing else. The bolt passes away into nothing. Those pikes are like bridges--a crossing point. The pikes bind the wielder to the victim, and bind life to death, and when it's done, both the wielder and the pike remember... and it hungers. This is the nightmare logic underpinning that nightmarish world and you will understand why I am... so glad I am no longer bound to them." He rattled off as though reciting something, or recalling a painful memory, but he seemed the weaken as he continued, as though his tongue were rebelling from him speaking the truth, and he so very much wanted Stev to hear it. "...But that is what I seek, my nightmares creased and cracked by an edge of a blade. I was but one life ruined, scattered to dust... but it was my life. If you give me a chance to reclaim it, my power is at your disposal."

After (Stev)
Stev narrows his eyes. He really, REALLY wants to believe that this Guard was some fabrication or delusion, but honestly, it made too much sense. If the Emperor created an organization of Force Users dedicated to hunting down their own kind, it stands to reason that he could create another group to use as a weapon against everyone else.
He finally replies "Look, from what you said and Sigurd found, it sounds like you just got out of a lengthy drug-induced coma, so I can't sign you on in good conscience before you get some time to readjust yourself and purge the drugs from your system. Would you mind if our doctor helped you cope with whatever happened to you?"
If he consents, Stev continues "Our Med Bay's a little cramped right now, but I think we could treat you in the main room without trouble. By the way, I'd like to call you something other than 'you'. Since you can't remember your name, what would you like us to call you?"

"Please, you should only worry about calling things 'you' if they're a small child. It'd make it easier to tell when they're deliberately avoiding you at least..." Invictus stared blankly despite his crack, mentally going back to old naming traditions among darksiders. "Unbowed... yes... that one's good. Invictus." He said after a moment, letting his eyes adjust. It was strange, but for some reason his eyes were the only thing that still seemed alive. The butchery done to him in the name of 'science' left him as a ragged mess, looking to be in his fifties and ill despite having the voice of a young adult. "I'll be fine. The body is a resilient machine, and they've done worse to me. Nothing as aggravating, mind you, but now that my thoughts are mine, I can brood and stew in my hatred about it later."

All that damage done to him, yet he still doesn't want to get treated? This must be what doctors feel like when I do the same thing. Actually, he really does remind me of me, and I don't know if that's good news or a problem.
"Well then Invictus, what is it that I can do for you? I can't even begin to imagine how you feel right now. Do you need food or water? Sleep? I can have somebody look for clothes that would fit you properly too. Until we jump and go back to Gandle Ott, I can't offer much, but I'll do what I can. I'll introduce you to the rest of our crew too, if you feel up to it."

Dr. Sigurd lowers the hypo unused (puts down his dice). "If you have complications please inform me immediatly." He returns to his medical bay. Invictus' eyes will not fully focus for a day. His limbs are sluggish and weak. If he was not who he is he would probably recieve help. It will be a while before he is all that he was before. The crystal along his spine is cold and brittle.
Brophar makes an all call. "We are ready for jump say a last goodbye to hell and hope we never need to return."
