So I had a few minutes to think about my characters feats and future levels.
I thought i'd share some thoughts so the DM and others hear it (can maybe can help).
Malik: He is using two hand-axes right now. The intent of him was to be a somewhat "Tank" and the two axes sounded cool to use for damage at lower levels. I was thinking about taking the feat to allow me to use battle axes (1d8 instead of 1d6) and perhaps a level of fighter to get the ability to add my STR damage to the second attack. That was my original plan.
Now, in play i'm realizing with Hunter's Mark i get 1d6 damage but it uses a bonus action (so when i'm casting it or changing targets) i can't really attack with a second weapon anyways. So part of my reason to share was for the DM (just in case he might tweak a magic item we find to be an "axe" or something to fit the needs of characters knew). I'm debating now of either using a 2 handed weapon or perhaps a shield and sword, etc since hunter's mark is useful and I realized I don't want to multi-class at all. So really depending on items we find in the future might determine what Malik might use I guess. For instance if we found a magical shield (and I think noone else uses it) he might end up using it for instance. Not beholden to any specific weapon style right now is my point.
Secondly, I ask your opinions on feat options:
1) Magic initiate feat. I would take Hellish Rebuke as a 1st level spell (reaction to damage someone who hit me) which I think is awesome for his vengeance style up front fighting. I would also get 2 cantrips which would be Eldritch blast (hey i now have 120' range attack! since I have no dex) and Prestidigitation (I'm a Paladin and my armour needs to ALWAYS be clean and shiny!). Really like how it helps create a specific style.
2) Tough feat. 2 more HPs per level to help him really take a hit
3) Boost STR or CHA (STR is to hit and a little more damage) and (CHA would help spell save, attack, and at level 6 I get a 10' radius CHA boost to all saving throws so another +1 added)
4) Take the weapon feat that is -5 to hit but +10 damage to use with a 2 handed so I can deal a lot of damage
Thoughts?
Oloric:
I was thinking of also taking the magic initiate feat. Mainly because sorcerers get like so few spells. I can use the extra cantrips at each level to trade out for another 1st, 2nd, 3rd level spell so I get more than just 1 of them. Plus another casting of a 1st level spell which is great at these low levels when he has so few.
Spell wise I was tryring to figure out his best role also. I had thought to take Misty Step and Scorching Ray when I get level 3 but I also love Invisibility, Mirror Image, and thought why get scorching ray when I could just boost Chromatic Orb to level 2 slot. So I was thinking Hold Person and Misty Step. The only reason I started to doubt now was Malik will get both those spells at level 5 which is hilarious. He's not really the caster but it made me think I didn't need the same spells on both characters!
Anyways any thoughts are always appreciated.
